Hi all,
At the moment we're working on enhancing the current RIF-CS support to version 1.6.
In order to ensure that we meet a minimum of requirements that should be included in outputting a RIF-CS 1.6 xml document, I would like to ask for any volunteers to help out with this process.

I don't foresee that this would take a significant amount of time, but if I was able to gain 2/3 volunteers to meet initially for 1 hour (and then no more than fortnightly, as determined by group).

Once I have enough volunteers, I'll contact those people with a proposed date to meet, say, in a fortnight's time.

Kind regards
Matt Mulholland

Hi all,

Earlier in the year a survey was sent out to the user support community to help us prioritise the feature requests for the 1.9 release of ReDBox and Mint. As a result of that, we have formulated a release plan.

To help with reporting and tracking of changes from release to release, we will produce a number of minor releases culminating with a major release at the end of the year. Unlike the major release where it's recommended to upgrade, there would be no need to upgrade to the minor releases but you will be able to should you require a particular feature earlier.

You can review the release plan here. We only have very high level requirements at this stage so the estimated release dates are very rough estimates. We may be able to fit more or fewer features depending on progress.

To help us to deliver these features, it'd be great if some of you in the user community can spare us some time to help scope, review and test the work. We'll send out a request for the first planned feature (RIF-CS 1.6 support) with some more detail as to what that may entail shortly.

Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Matthew,

I'm volunteering. JCU has customisations in their rif.vm so if I can get these added to base code that would be great.

Thanks,
            Jay.

Great to have you onboard Jay, thanks.

As an aside, if you believe that your customisations might be useful for others for  what we currently have in the rif template, feel free to also add as a pull request to current code. Even if we cannot get all of it in, or merge it directly, it can be useful to add to the repository history as a permanent reference for us as we move forward with this work.

I'll send out proposed date and time to you early next week.

Kind regards
Matt

Hi Matt,

You could consider a starting point for a list of requirements as below. (There might be other github RIF-CS issues I've missed.)

 - https://github.com/redbox-mint/redbox/issues/48
 - https://github.com/redbox-mint/redbox/issues/23
 - https://github.com/redbox-mint/mint/issues/9
 - Duncan's rif.vm for RIF-CS 1.4 at https://github.com/redbox-mint-contrib/config-samples/blob/master/ReDBox/Metadata%20templates/rif14.vm

Also I suspect that you/QCIF will need to revisit RIF-CS when you implement ORCID support. I also have some proof-of-concept rif.vm (and eac-cpf.vm) ORCID changes which I am happy to share at https://github.com/grantj-re3/FlindersRedbox-url2ingest/tree/develop/mint-1.6.1/src/main/config/home (ie. currently on the "develop" branch).

If you don't have the numbers yet I'm happy to volunteer. Thanks.

Cheers, Grant

Thanks Grant - I'll take all of that onboard.
And yes, happy to have you in the group - welcome.
