This time I'm more than 1 month late !
I don't have time anymore to check all the websites and their
exhibitions : only the main ones.

2010 Q4 - 2011 Q1 Updated “complete” list of Paris museums and
exhibitions (expositions musées mostre musei exposiciones museos
Ausstellungen Museen)

Message originally posted on google group (rec.travel.europe), updated
every 6 months around April 1 and November 1 of each year (former one
erased) and composed of 3 parts :

BEWARE : The eventual english pages of each museum must be found from
the first page of each website.
The scheduled dates of some exhibitions can change (generally about
15% in the list below, but only 2 or 3 each year close before the date
firstly announced).
THEIR DATES SHOULD CONSEQUENTLY BE CHECKED IN THE CORRESPONDING
WEBSITE.
The exhibitions of the foreign cultural institutes will not be added
anymore except for the 3 considered as museums as well. Check at :

SPECIAL MENTION & NEWS :

The Picasso museum is closed for refurbishment since August 23, 2009
until 2012.
May 1, 2010 : re-opening of the greenhouses of the Natural history
museum.
April 28, 2010 : the computer museum of La Défense was closed
(temporarily?) since it had to leave the Grande Arche for technical
reasons only 2 years after opening April 15, 2008.
September 18, 2010 : opening of the Musée Paul Belmondo (sculptor) in
Boulogne.
October 6, 2010 : opening of the children gallery of the Natural
history museum.
October 22, 2010 : opening of Docks en Seine - Paris city Fashion &
Design City.
October 27, 2010 : opening of the aero-naval rooms of the National
maritime museum.
Late 2010 : opening of the front gallery, rotonda and salon d'honneur
of the Grand Palais.
January 2011 : opening of the « permanent » collection of private
loans of the Pinacothèque
February 9, 2011 : re-opening of the Musée du Luxembourg closed for
refurbishment since January 17, 2010.
March 2011 : re-opening of the parts of the Musée d’Orsay
(impressionists gallery) closed for refurbishment since December 7,

Late March 2011 : re-opening of the Arab World Institute museum
transferred in another for refurbishment since June 8, 2010.

- About 15 museums are free of charge for everybody, like the Brancusi
workshop depending of the Centre Pompidou (# B.6 in the list), the
Legion of Honour museum (# B.47) or the Police Préfecture museum (# B.
66) and most museums of the City of Paris, etc…
- The national museums of the R.M.N. (only) are free the 1st sunday of
the month, except the Tropical aquarium (# B.15) and their eventual
closing May 1 and January 1.
- The permanent collections of the City of Paris museums (see II.B.e
in the museums list below) are free (except for the museums # B.85 to
91, but # B.89 is free the 1st sunday of the month and # B.91 on
wednesdays evenings from 17H to 20H). Nevertheless, the exhibitions of
all of them are not free (except # B.92 to 94 & 97).

capital letters for those only announced by « a ».
The = between the dates means that one of them has changed since first
announcement.
The * after the dates means that I’ve already seen them.
Exhibitions with no final date indicated are not mentioned !
All the exhibitions of the museums organising several ones each month
are not mentioned since this list is updated only every about 6

2012 Updated “complete” list of Paris museums and

exhibitions (expositions musées mostre musei exposiciones museos

This time I'm more than 2 years... late ! :+)

I gave up the updating of my list of Paris museums and exhibitions for 2 reasons :
1. I changed of work after October 2010 and have no more time ;
2. It is now possible to obtain the same infos with the website of the Paris Convention bureau (Office du tourisme de Paris) as explained below :

To obtain the list of the exhibitions in Paris in chronological order (by date of exhibitions end) go to :

http://visitparis-cultureguide.parisinfo.com/

Then choose a period (like 3 months) with "date" and the calendars, from (du) X to (au) Y. Click on > for the next months or >> for the next year.
Then choose "exposition à Paris" as "genre". Beware that's Paris AND its region.
So, add "Paris" as keyword (mots-clefs) to obtain only the exhibitions in Paris itself (intra muros). Then, very few exhibitions from the suburb will be given as well (for the suburb, type instead Versailles, Sèvres, Fontainebleau, Compiegne, Boulogne, Saint-Germain-en-Laye or Giverny where are held the main exhibitions).
Then search with "rechercher".
Then choose "date" for the list in chronological order.

For the top events of the year :

For the inaugurations of the month, choose the line "inaugurations" of Paris News at :

then click on "Sites culturels" and it gives the updated calendar, like :

then in "Good ideas" at the bottom left of the page, choose :
- free admission,
- opening of museums,
- weekly closing days,
- late opening.

Of course my 2010 list of museums and closings or inaugurations has changed a little since 2 years, but that's marginal.
