It's unfair but Wimbledon is in Britain after all. So you have to
accept it.

That's why players like Borg, Lendl, Becker, Federer, Nadal or
Djokovic are probably a bit greater than we think they really
are.

Jackie Gleason, Mel Brooks, Steve Allen and Sid Caesar had more comedic
ability in their pinky fingers that the vastly overrated Jerry Seinfeld
and Larry David had in their entire bodies.

If you think "Grape Nuts" humor is hilarious. Some eps of "Seinfeld" I found amusing early on, and later just tedious and repetitive. All of the comedians TK mentioned are indeed much more able than that self-satisfied knob Seinfeld.

Gracchus, it's a matter of opinion/taste and is not a matter of fact. I never found Steve Allen very humorous at all. I find Seinfeld and Larry David to be bright/funny most of the time. Don't go acting like it's some sort of universal law that Seinfeld and David are unfunny just because you believe it to be so.

So you make a disparaging remark about American humor and that's ok. I make a remark about artistic taste in your part of the world and it's racist. Seems like kind of a double standard, don't you think? I don't see that observations of cultural norms have to involve race at all.

There are instances of humor which is distinctly of a place or culture (couldn't imagine Americans doing Monty Python bits for example), but more often it varies between individuals. There are a bunch of Americans on rst. Do you think we all have a similar sense of humor? It doesn't to me. But I do see your point about the common language.

Yeah, his standup routine is very smug. Can't watch it at all. But to be fair to the show, I did watch it on and off the first few years. Credit for doing something very different. I thought some eps were quite funny. But you can only rehash "quirkiness" for so long before it becomes annoying. I think Groucho was very versatile due to his intelligence & talent for
highlighting the absurd in every day life. He would have been hilarious

sense to compare him in that context to eg Fawlty Towers, but I have no

I could fill a page with Jewish comedians I think are funny. Guys like Stiller and Sandler are so unfunny they should have their circumcisions revoked.

i don't find ben stiller movies funny. i liked peter sellers.

overall, i really prefer the more subdued tongue in cheek type of
comedy anyway.

outrageous stunts, people falling down, loud swearing, feces, that
type of thing i can't even grin at. melissa mccarthy, amy schumer type
not funny at all IMO.

As I said before, I don't know much about her but what do I think about her politics? Not much. ;)

I hear ya. Peter Sellers was great- did you see 'Being There'? I love that
movie still. And of course 'Dr Strangelove'.. too good.

Women definitely like a sense of humor. It is borderline impossible to
explain Peter Sellers being able to get Britt Ekland otherwise.

All I know is she would be the last person I would vote for out of Clinton, Trump and Stein. I actually agree with some of the things Trump has to say, i.e. his position on NAFTA and the agreement set up with China and how it helped to ruin manufacturing in North America. I thought his speech was quite good last night. He's a creep/misogynist but he's one hell of a performer. His kids are all decent speakers but Donald is better than all of them combined. I have to give him credit for that. So what I'm saying is politically, I would choose Clinton and Trump over Stein. Stein is as far away from my views politically as it gets.

I guess that means I'd like her. You've saved me the trouble of researching what she actually believes in. ;)

I wouldn't bother doing any research on her. Most people probably won't remember her name in about 5 months from now. ;)
