I think there is a good chance you are wrong on all of those,
Alexandra. You have the best chance on being right on #3 or # 4. Th
streak has to end sometimes, there has to be one slip sometimes, but
who knows if it happens eve next year. Nadal can win FO, but it
doesn't seem to me like the certainty it used to be. #5 is your third
best chance. You are almost certainly wrong on #1 and #2.

Actually the most unlikely to come true is no.3 since Fed will
continue to meet only clowns up to slam semis, before being demolished
by JMDP/Nadal/Murray (djoker prob wont be top4)

But 2010 will be known forever as the "Year of Murray,"

He will IMHO win at least 2 of Ao/Wim/USO
maybe even all 3

and finish the year as no.1.

And the Tennis world shall be captivated and entralled by his
unparalleled mercurial genius. You will be forced to repent your sins,
and become a convert to the Murray religion that shall soon sweep the
Tennis world.

You can see that PX has lost all conviction and is merely a shell of a
former troll (formal troll?) now.

The Cilic loss, the subsequent 3 days in a row of play at DC and
demotion to Group II, the MRI and its negative result (as in no real
problem with the wrist) have all left PX in a daze.

Seems like I have missed some news, which is strange since I have been
almost non-stop at work following sports news since Friday. There
seems to be some discussion about Murray's wrist injury in rst. I
doubt it is too serious though, since about 2 hours ago Prof.
Alexandra told me 2010 will be remembered as Murray's year and he will
win 2 or 3 slams.

Murray's MRI revealed no tendon issues and so his wrist issue has been
classified as a sprain. I suspect that his pride was hurting more than
his wrist after the way he lost to Cilic. If his wrist was really in bad
shape, would he choose to play 3 days in a row in Davis Cup best of 5
set format?

The answer is obvious. No one with a serious injury is going to play on
b2b days let alone 3 days in a row.

Not at all. The Cilic loss was the best thing that could have happened
to Murray, arguably better than if he had actually won the tournament.
Who was it who coined the phrase "We learn more from defeat than
victory?"

Now, as an exemplary student of the game Murray is no exception. He
will know why he lost, and have already implemented a plan to prevent
similar defeats from occurring in the future. It would not be
unreasonable to speculate that having overcome the US Open
disappointment and Wimbledon pressure-cooker, that Murray will develop
into a genuine 'mental giant' next year; capable of overcoming
everything in his path through sheer force-of-will.

Not that it takes much skill but John Doe isn't very good at it, he just

So two people realized their dreams at UTC. Del Potro for winning his

Q: How does it feel to lose like that?

ANDY MURRAY: This is the best thing that could have happened to me.
Some people feared I might make the quarter-final, but my passive
gameplan worked perfectly. Cilic doesn't really play well in important
matches, and he seemed like he could choke any moment, but in the end
he had no options but to win the match. This tournament really
couldn't have gone better for me. I want to thank every 87 members of
my team. I learnt a lot from this defeat, and I will be better
prepared than ever before to crash out at AO again.

So you should be ecstatic now with everything that Murray has learned in
2009.

Think of how much Murray could know by the end of the slam season next
year with 4 more learning experiences!

Hope the 'sheer force-of-will' works out because the game he has brought
hasn't stopped him from being beaten into submission at slams.

How has Murray overcome the disappointment of losing to Cilic? Do
moaning and groaning about the wrist and the scedule and getting an MRI
count?

Excellent though that is, Murray will be under enormous pressure to
perform at the AO. He has already announced that he is skipping Doha and
reaching Oz sooner. Not sure if he will skip the Abu Dhabi Exo that PX
is so fond of since he will want to defend his "title".

If he fails at the AO, he had better have a very good excuse. If he
fails badly, he should consider emigrating, preferably to a country not
in the DC Group II. ;)

There might be lowered expectations, which in turn should help Mug.
This year, he felt the weight of being "favorite" at nearly all the
big ones. Meanwhile, I think it helped Potro a bit floating under the
radar. With such a huge win, he'll bear the burden.

Or maybe Mug will continue getting the pressure and hype, which is
just fine for Potro.

Murray was justifiably the favourite at AO, Wimby & USO last year.

He was never *the* favorite, just one of the favorites.

I suspect that 2010 will see a more rational view of Murray prevail.
There is only one way to resurrect Murray mania and that is for Murray
to win a slam instead of talking up a storm and then fizzling out.

I heard a lot of fools were parted from their money.

As many have pointed out, winning a slam is not easy. It is harder still
when you don't have the will to go for your shots.

Even Murray has to be a bit alarmed now. Makes his first slam final in
2007 and blanks out in 2008.

Ball is in his court. Hope he does better than hit a safe midcourt shot
with nothing on it.
