As England threatens to boycott WC 2018, it leaves open two places for the competition, because Australia would automatically would follow suite.

"Mr Johnson has insisted that Britain will respond "robustly" if evidence of state involvement emerges, describing Russia as "in many respects a malign and disruptive force".

If Russian involvement is found, the foreign secretary appeared to raise a question mark over England's participation in the World Cup, which will be held in Russia this summer."

If UK:s government intervenes, then FIFA will surely have no other choice
than to ban England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland. Oops... all four
with great power in FIFA.

Well, what a great opportunity that would be to get rid of that anachronism. ;)

The precedent was set when Denmark was elevated in 1992. The only way for Italy to qualify is for an outbreak of civil war in Sweden.

If the Italians were smart, they'd be shipping arms to Northern Swedish separatists.

Um, yeah.

We'd only boycott the WC to protest Papua New Guinea invading New Zealand, and that's not happening any time soon.

Are you kidding? If that happened we'd join our PNG brethren in their heroic struggle against the NZ ogre. Then we'd go to the World Cup.

That's in an ideal world. We'd probably do nothing and go to the WC anyway.

The rumour is that the Calabrese mafia, in a secret connection to the Italian FA, is involved in the poisoning of the Ruski spy.

According to well informed sources, there is someone in a high place in the British government called "Fatty biker", who is getting a handsome commission in a wallet of cryptocurrencies.

hehe...

In a new development, the circulating rumour in Zurich FIFA offices is that a gardener of the dacha of Vladimir Putin in Uzhnoe Butovo was seen last week meeting Signor Giovanni Infantino in Prater, Vienna, disguised as an Obst und Gemuse street vendor.

It is believed that President Putin would see rather Italy and Chile, than England and Australia, in the 2018 World Cup.

Keep tuned for fresh News.

The WC is a long time away and time heals all wounds and all will be forgotten and all that... but right now countries pulling out of the WC or countries getting stripped of hosting seems possible.

Doesn't this happen at every World Cup? Talks of boycott, changing hosts... its just silly.

I highly doubt Poland for example who hardly ever qualify will boycott. If they do it will be incredibly stupid.

I agree... the USA would be happy to take any vacated place!

LOL at the idea that this is a serious threat. Of course England will be at the World Cup.

Iceland leaders to boycott 2018 World Cup in Russia over spy poisoning in U.K.

Iceland's government representatives will not attend the World Cup in Russia this summer, in solidarity with the United Kingdom after a chemical attack on Russian former agent Sergei Skripal and her daughter in Salisbury, which the British government has blamed on Moscow.

----

I smell something farcical in all this:

They boycott diplomatically, but not sportingly. The Rusky spy (who is not dead, not showed in his hospital bed like Litvinenko); the Cambridge Analytical - Facebook scandal influencing illegally Brexit and Trump election; the Rusky plot and Trump expelling 60 diplomats to simulate toughness on Putin; an Icelandic boycott, which is not a real boycott; some allies of US expelling only one or two Ruskis; British Parliament invalidating the Brexit vote; US Congress making void Trump's election; ... ooops, I made a mistake revealing things before its time... :-/

That's it. So it doesn't cost them anything.
