I don't know how far NE in Jersey you are. I am a member at the NEREID
BOAT CLUB located in Rutherford, NJ. Our rowing territory is the Passaic
River - not bad! The best way to get there is via NJ Rt. 3 and get off at
Riverside Avenue. Follow Riverside Avenue upstream (N), and the
boathouse is on your left in about 1 mile. When the season begins the
competitive rowers are there every morning from about 5 AM on. Open
rowing is every Saturday at 10 AM. If this is not too far away, come and
join us!

Does Nereid have any youth rowing, especially composite crews? WYRA in
Wilmington is holding three composite/school regattas in April, with
medals for the biggest regatta. We are always looking for east coast
competition, although we travel to Pittsburgh and other locations, eg
Cincinnati invitationals, for challenging regattas.

Hi, Clemens.
I just came across your note at a time I'm trying to learn more about alternatives for
rowing in Jersey. I'm moving to Westfield, NJ next week, and have heard others talk
about the Nereid BC. Do you have any idea how convenient the BC is to Westfield (I'm
not from the area). Also, do you know if the boat house is somewhat closed? In
addition for looking for a men's 8, I'd like a place to put a 1x I'll be picking up.
Thanks for any guidance.
Steve
Nereid is about 30 Minutes from Westfield down the Parkway. It is an easy
ride in the morning, but slows down some during rush hour.
We currently have room for some singles in the house, which already holds
20-30 singles.
If you want to talk some more e-mail me your phone number. I do not want
to post mine & could not get through to your e-mail.
