maybe Trump the dealmaker is emerging. It would an improvement of Trump the clown.

I suspect (probably too optimistically) that Dems have decoded Trump better than the GOP... give him some deals and some wins, and he's yours. However the divisions you've seen in the GOP will be child's play compared to what you'll see in the Dems if the Dems actually fully played ball with Trump. Just like the GOP was a party built around hating Obama, the Dems are a party built around hating Trump. I don't know how the pattern gets broken.

Oh no - you're likely spot on. If the press/Dems/prog left ever realizes how easy he is to manipulate, you could get your whole agenda approved

By the start of a few rational Dems like you saying "Hey - wait a minute - look at the *results* not what your fevered imagination says". If the far left would quit screaming white supremacy all the time and look at the actuality - they might actually be....not quite happy, but certainly not angry.

Or to put it another way - Obamacare & DACA Live - the Wall is Dead

They'd actually see he is a white supremacist.
I'm amazed there's really any argument about this;
his entire life and own words on him and his family
are based on it.

I don't think he's a white supremacist. He's an insecure man who craves validation above all else. And the white supremacists have been giving him most of his validation so he's with them, for now. If the Dems play it right they can own him and make him what we want. IMO.

This I could agree with. He's an opportunist pure and simple. (For a rookie, he's picking up this whole political thing awfully quickly)

That doesn't explain his prosecution for housing
discrimination. Nor his own words on "good genes."
Both of which long predate his turn to politics.

The whole birther thing and overturning anything
Obama did - even things Trump praised at the
time - aren't accidental.

OMG, the whole "He got more votes than Romney or McCain"
argument. Know who they were running against?

Yeah, he argues about the word "openly," which is not something
I said. It's the entirety of his actions/words. Does he make the
standard political "I'm for EVERYBODY" speech? Yeah. So what?

And he also brushes off stuff like birtherism, equating it to stuff
like Foster, and jumping to "that'd if labeled racist if color swapped."
That's nonsense too.

One would hope so. That's what running the country is all about.

I think Trump is too volcanic for that. Every deal will always be a
new deal.

I did not hate Obama. He might have been tolerable if he was not a
socialist. It's behavior, not the person.

It never gets broken again. Socialism will never be acceptable to
responsible people. One side will become the Anaconda...

If NK nukes the USA libs won't be safe just because they are
socialist, too.

Trump discriminating in housing practices doesn't make him a white supremacist. It doesn't even make him a racist. Trump, if nothing else, has shown that his biggest driving motivation is his narcissism and pathological insecurity. And in New York City, the most important measure of a man is having lots of money (until you get to the old money, then it is how well you give it away). So you can view his actions largely through that lens. The reality is that New York in the 1970s was still fundamentally a racially segregated mess. In a market where demand outstripped supply, he stood to make way more money pandering to the discriminatory elements of the NY lower middle class then he would by opening the doors. Trump sees one color, and that's how green you are and how much of that green might just rub off on him.

A goodly amount has been rubbing of on me since the election. Dems
always say that I should vote my self-interest. This time I hit the
trifecta. Several times.

I have little argument for that. But Trump, like me, may just enjoy
the fight. Life is not much if I'm not competing.

About 55-60 years ago I answered a call for the CEO when everyone else
was out to dinner (the night meal is supper). The operator in NYC
mocked my drawl and told me to tell him to call Op 10 in NY. I said,
"Yes, maam. That's New York what?" That ended her participation.

I think that's a fair assessment. But it seems that I am getting a bit
greener with him in office. Thus I am not yet concerned with his
motives.

As long as I can buy a 2 year old Lexus any time I wish I don't care
what he drives. Why, he's not even allowed to drive and I am!
