Is "likely doubtful" to start on Sunday. What does "likely doubtful"
even mean?

It means he'll suit up, participate in warm-ups and see how he feels.

And may he even "start" the game and hand the ball off to Addai before
deciding it's too risky to continue behind that OL.

It's likely they will list him as Doubtful. So there's a small chance
they could list him slightly higher or Out entirely.

Doubtful means "25% chance of playing" (Questionable = 50%, Probable =
75%)

It means he's still breathing. His doctors aren't going to let him
play... and both he and his team are probably better off in the long run
if he sits the season out and allows them to get some decent draft picks
for the first time in a decade.

Which makes you wonder all the more about Jax' move in cutting
Garrard. If there was ever a year to take Indy out, this would be it
- but McNown and Gabbert?

Houston. If Indy is out, this should be their year. And if it isn't,
Kubiak is gone.

Honestly - THIS is the year Houston rises up and takes the division.
Really. Truly. Again.

AFC South has potential to be NFC Westesque.

I wonder who made that decision. Was it Del Rio? If so then why now
(keep away from Indy?). But if (as some have speculated) it was
purely about the $$$, then that decision had to have come from above,
right? I heard that Jax is now $30M under the cap? yikes.

From what I've heard, it was the owner AND Del Rio's under a "make the
playoffs or you're fired" umbrella.

What a mess

I'd like to introduce the 2012 Los Angeles Jaguars!

Yuk. I'd hate to see the Vikings go that way. I really always thought it'd be the Saints, but they seem to have settled in New Orleans for the duration. I suspect Jax ends up there eventually.

And now, apparently he'll be out for a while.

On Sirius NFL Radio, a guy reported that Peyton will have another
surgery perhaps as early as next weekend.

The Colts are officially in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.

On a sidenote: that would be insane if the Colts manage to get Luck at
the end of Peyton's career...

Here's more

"ESPN’s Chris Mortensen has confirmed that Colts QB Peyton Manning
underwent another neck surgery this morning. Mort called it a
“cervical fusion” and says Manning is expected to be out another 2-3
months. No word yet on whether the team will place him on IR, but it
has to be considered a possibility. Even the short end of that
timetable would knock Manning out for the first 8 or 9 weeks – and
that’s assuming he’s ready to play immediately after being cleared by
doctors. At this point, Manning is only worth hanging on to in leagues
with deep benches. Kerry Collins is Indianapolis’ starter for the
foreseeable future and should be considered a low-end QB2 for now. But
he could become a viable matchup play as he gets more comfortable in
the offense. We’re also knocking all the Colts’ pass-catchers down our
rankings."

This would actually be his >3rd< operation. His first TWO were within
15 months, i think. An MD called into Moving the Chains on Sirius
today; he said that each subsequent operation is substantially less
likely to succeed than the previous. In his opinion (from what
information he has about Peyton's surgeries), he's done for the season
and he may have to consider retiring. "If this surgery doesn't take
100%, you're looking at having pain for the rest of your life."

This is Peyton Manning we're talking about. He will just grit his
teeth and play through it.

He's done. Career is over.

There's no way he can come back from that kind of an injury,
especially in today's NFL where a cheapie to the head is only 15 yards
and $25,000...

Coaching staff is going to be scouting on Saturday, that's for sure...
and remember everyone thought that Leaf was the better QB of that
draft... and our SoCal Pla's can tell us how that worked out... heh.

For the second pick of the 2012 Draft, The Indianapolis Colts pick:

People often overlook that a QB is dumb as a tree stump if he has a
howitzer for an arm. People rated Branndon Stewart more highly than
Manning when they both went to Tennessee. Where's Stewart now?

As for Leaf, he's currently on probation. Anyone think he'll visit the
Iron Bar Hotel?

Not everyone. I recall there was ALOT of interest in Peyton as a
JUNIOR and there was lots of talk he would be the number one overall
had he come out then. He then goes back to Tenn and by then most
people had pegged him as the #1 with the "other guys" saying things
like "Ryan Leaf's got the better arm" etc.

Note, that there's some similarity with Luck there.

Landry Jones?

It's interesting that there are a few teams that are potentially on
the Suck-for-Luck list: Seattle, 49ers, Carolina again, maybe the
Raiders.

If Carolina ends up with the #1 overall, what do they do?

Bengals, yeah. Brownies... they should beat the Bengals twice! But
the Bengals have their saviour: Taylor Mays! Funny, they just got
rid of Roy Williams and then go get the same type only less capable.

And no, Raiders traded their 2011 1st round for Richard Seymour (worth
it) and then used up their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th next year, though likely
they will receive a 3rd and 4th compensatory for losing Nnamdi,
Gallery, Zach Miller.

Roy Williams never played for the Bengals. He played for the Lions
before being traded to the Cowboys. He's now with the Bears.

I knew that already. It's called sarcasm.

As a Bengals' fan, I knew that the Roy Williams that played at Oklahoma
was signed by the Bengals after being released by the Cowboys as opposed
to the Roy Williams that played at Texas.
