Or nonexistent claims of nonexistent terror attacks.

Are you denying that the jackass made these statements? There is audio
and video of it. Fear-mongering at its worst.

Frm NYT:
"During a campaign-style rally on Saturday in Florida, Mr. Trump issued
a sharp if discursive attack on refugee policies in Europe, ticking off
a list of places that have been hit by terrorists.

“You look at what’s happening,” he told his supporters. “We’ve got to
keep our country safe. You look at what’s happening in Germany, you look
at what’s happening last night in Sweden. Sweden, who would believe this?”

Not the Swedes.

Nothing particularly nefarious happened in Sweden on Friday — or
Saturday, for that matter — and Swedes were left baffled.

“Sweden? Terror attack? What has he been smoking? Questions abound,”
Carl Bildt, a former prime minister and foreign minister, wrote on Twitter."

Actually not a nonexistent claim. Orange Julius saw a story on Fox News the night before:

"It now appears that Trump's comments about Sweden were inspired by a Fox News segment on random violence in that country allegedly committed by refugees, not by anything that actually happened on Friday."

Only one problem:

"The last terror-linked attack on Swedish record was a December 2010 suicide bombing in Stockholm, the Associated Press reported Sunday. In that attack, an Iraqi-born Swede who identified with al-Qaeda detonated two devices, killing only himself.
There was indeed a recent attack in Sweden, on Jan. 5, but it targeted immigrants and was largely under-reported, according to The Independent newspaper. Three suspected neo-Nazis were later arrested for the homemade bomb attack on the Gothenburg Asylum Centre that seriously injured one person, the newspaper said. The Independent reported Sunday that the suspects were members of the racist Nordic Resistance Movement, which opposes non-white immigration to Sweden."

So Donald was the victim of FAKE NEWS! From, shockingly, Fox News...

No. You and the one and only find yourselves defending trump with his own blessed talking points. It isn't that he just says whatever strikes him - irregardless of truth - it's that the evul media (aka our unholy and sworn enemy) is spinning everything he says.

And you're feeling compelled to defend everything he says or tweets - aaahahahahahaha - hahaha - oh, gosh, hahahahahhahaha.

As someone in a similar position just a few months back, I can only laugh and advise you to go look in a mirror - the beclowneth ones be there, looking back.

Although... I mean I dont know why I bother pointing it out. Y'all Trumpkins now. Whattayagonnado? <stupid shruggie here> <stupid smiley there>

1. You are again in the business of taking him literally but
not seriously. He was speaking in his usual imprecise manner
and referring to a news report on Fox. This is accepted by
anyone not itching to cry out "your gaffe, your gaffe!"

2. It has raised the question and started making the
Swedes defend their rising crime rate, on which Trump
is actually correct. Their rape rate is greatly increased,
and the increase is due to Muslim immigrants.

3. Calling it "lies" so quickly makes you look like a fool
when there is such a strong kernel of truth.

Normal people can see this. It looks to them like another
case of the media jumping on Trump:

http://bit.ly/2mhX7KG

The media has absolutely gutted their trustworthiness among the
American people. Trump isn't doing that great, but they are doing
much worse.

Now lies, instead of being alternative facts, are "his usual imprecise manner of speaking".

And then Con follows it up with some more lies of his own (or should I say he spoke in his usual imprecise manner?) "Their rape rate is greatly increased, and the increase is due to Muslim immigrants.

What Con meant to say, had he not been imprecise, is this:
"If we look specifically at sex offences, which the Fox News segment highlighted, there were 18,100 sex offenses reported to the police in 2015, down 11 percent from 2014, according to the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention.
The number of rapes reported decreased 12 percent between 2014 and 2015, to 5,920, the agency reported. The council noted that in Sweden, when a single case is reported, every incident associated with the case is also reported as an offense during the same year.
The amount of reported rape offenses has gone up in the last 10 years (2006-15), which the agency said can be partially attributed to new legislation in 2005 that augmented the types of acts that can be classified as rape."

What exactly isn't playing 'outside my little bubble'? The truth? I cited facts that show that you are lying. Take that as you will. But if you think that my little bubble includes only a handful of people who care about the actual truth, I propose you are going to be sadly mistaken. It may take a while, but repeated lying will eventually wear thin, even on those who currently accept it because they view it as politically expedient.

I think the point you're missing is that Trump's supporters by and large know he's an idiot. They don't care, and continuing to point that out doesn't persuade anyone. See the link to the American Interest that andrew poasted yesterday for the basic explanation of that theory.

I think futbol has an incorrect view(helped by the media) of "trump's supporters"....those supporters extend far beyond what you see at the rallies. You have people like myself who know he's an idiot(and don't believe a lot of the garbage he spews) but are just praying for tax cuts. You have other establishment republicans who really don't like the guy who are just hoping he continues to play tons of golf and let paul ryan and co really set the agenda down the line. Then yes you do have a contigent of the classic trump supporter(older, white, undeducated, rural, working class) who make up *some* of his support....and those may be the true die-hards, but they only represent a small slice of his support.

furthermore futbol tries to portray trump supporters as poor and enabled by the govt and hypocritical, which is again not reality. Trump voters on the whole had higher incomes and were more educated than hrc voters....those numbers narrowed a bit this year compared to most cycles due to trump's popularity with the white working class, but there was still a gap. Futbol's fantasy that dems and hillary voters are the true wealth creators with all the money and power and us repubs should be grateful for the govt scraps they give is is just that....pure fantasy.

Fut is the shit-for-brains who called me a liar NOT for lying, but for
posting quotes that LATER turned out to be absolutely inaccurate in
most cases.

And he constantly continued to prove his lack of intelligence and

lack of legitimate parentage. He has not yet supplied the URL to
refute that despite repeated requests.

I'm *lying*? Do you mean that by not holding Trump to his literal
meaning, and telling you that I believe that he meant "last night"
to mean "a Fox News Report last night", I am lying?

Or do you mean that I don't accept a cherrypicked statistical
increase for a one-year decrease in reported rapes, I am "lying"
by saying that Trump might have a point about problems in Sweden?
I note also you don't mention the just-released 2016 numbers. I also
note that you have to spin with an imprecise interpretation of
increasing numbers "due to reporting factors".

If that is what you call "lying", then I can see why you
are getting farther and farther out of touch with reality.

I think you misunderstand my point. I believe that the core Trump-lovers (that you refer to as white, uneducated, rural, etc) will continue to buy in to whatever it is that he's peddling. But those who are never-Trumpers turned Trump supporters because it is politically expedient for them (including many Senators and Reps) are going to start to realize that the daily shitshow that is the Trump White House isn't worth supporting in the long run. In your case it may be one issue (taxes), but for others it will be incremental. Right now they're saying "He's new at this stuff, give him some time", but time isn't going to create a different Donald Trump-- what you see is what you get. And eventually what they get will stop working for them.

His tactis are disappointing. That is obvioulsy one of his ego
problems. I expect a few of us on this board, who agree with his
general direction, could help him considerably in his march to
success. But none of us could do it in the hour or so before he fired
us.

When one has very good people reporting to him one of the first things
he needs to learn is to put his ego in storage. That HAS to be part of
a good manager's planning.

And Trump started with the advantage of having VERY SMALL shoes to
fill.
