You lemmings never cease to amaze. One of the most corrupt pieces of
shit in Congress finally does something beneficial for the nation
(i.e. dies) and the dumb downed American public gushes forth with the
sentimental slop before the carcass is even cold. Really you should
wait awhile before beginning the revisionist history project about
"Abscam Jack".

The only reason the sleazebag didn't finish "serving" his country in
Lewisburg Federal Penitentary instead of the U.S. Congress was because
he was a SNITCH who testified against his partners in crime. A THIEF
and a RAT FINK who personally engineered the theft of $BILLION$ from
hard working Americans to the ruling elite via their military
industrial complex to fund their war racket - corporate welfare
wrapped in the flag.

But don't take it too hard, your masters will probably name a holiday
after him in ten years.

By PETER JACKSON, Associated Press Writer

Murtha was a perennial target of critics of so-called pay-to-play
politics. He routinely drew the attention of ethical watchdogs with
off-the-floor activities, from his entanglement in the Abscam
corruption probe three decades ago to the more recent scrutiny of the
connection between special-interest spending known as earmarks and the
raising of cash for campaigns.

Murtha became chairman of the House Appropriations defense
subcommittee in 1989. The same year Paul Magliocchetti, a former
subcommittee staffer, left Capitol Hill to found the now-defunct PMA
Group. The lobbying firm, which specialized in obtaining earmarks for
defense contractors, was one Murtha's biggest sources of campaign
cash.
In 2007 and 2008, Murtha and two fellow Democrats on the subcommittee
directed $137 million to defense contractors who were paying PMA to
get them government business. Between 1989 and 2009, Murtha collected
more than $2.3 million in campaign contributions from PMA's lobbyists
and corporate clients, according to the Center for Responsive
Politics, which tracks political money.

Shortly after the 2008 election, the FBI raided PMA's offices as part
of a criminal investigation. In a separate development in January
2009, FBI agents raided the offices of a defense contractor from
Murtha's district — Windber-based Kuchera Defense Systems Inc. — that
had received millions of dollars in earmarks sponsored by Murtha while
contributing tens of thousands to his campaigns.

A year later, Kuchera was suspended from bidding on government
contracts because of allegations that it paid more than $200,000 in
kickbacks to another defense contractor.

Around the same time, the House ethics committee was investigating the
link between PMA-related campaign contributions and earmarks, but it
had not named a subcommittee to look into possible violations by
individual lawmakers.
Murtha's critics recall the Abscam corruption probe, in which the FBI
caught him on videotape in a 1980 sting operation turning down a
$50,000 bribe offer while holding out the possibility that he might
take money in the future.
"We do business for a while, maybe I'll be interested and maybe I
won't," Murtha said on the tape.
Six congressmen and one senator were convicted in that case. Murtha
was not charged, but the government named him as an unindicted co-
conspirator and he testified against two other congressmen.

He's dead. He can't do you any harm. Speaking ill of him now is
of no beneft.

Give him the respect he's due as a Marine, if nothing else.

What a stupid statement. The harm he did to the nation continues and
will endure, even after the maggots have devoured his stinking corpse.
Hard working, honest Americans will be forced to pay the tab "Sleazy
Jack" and his military industrial complex masters ran up for
generations to come.

As I said, you lemmings never cease to amaze - keep posting please.
There is something perversely satisfying about seeing imbeciles get
what they deserve.

By the by, Ultra liberal lefty Keith Olberman just praised the scumbag
on his television show while ultra conservative righty's on Fox News
were slobbering on about what a patriot "Abscam Jack" was. And the
dumbed down American public still falls for the good cop/bad cop,
right/left, LIbEral/CONservative charade the corrupt corporate
propagandists spoon feeds them nightly. As I said, you lemmings...

P.S. Pursuing your logic, wasn't Lee Harvey Oswald a Marine? As I
said, you lemmings ...lol... the gift that never stops giving...

You're comparing a United States Congressman to Lee Harvey Oswald.

Makes as much sense as comparing John Wayne Gacy to Larry Harmon.

Speaking of logic.

I'm trying to see your point of view Mr. Maus but I can't shove my

It was certainly a bust here. The weather dorks were screaming

hundred year storm. Barely dusted the shingles on the roof.

Yup, he was indeed and truly a patsy.

Anyone who thinks Oswald alone was solely responsible for JFK's death

It's starting to come down fairly steadily, now. Should amount to
a nice cover. I'll be puttting an orange flag on the dog's tail so
the coyotes can find him more easily in the drifts.

Truth is, the snowplow has taken out more mailboxes than it has

I think it is wise to objectively remember and learn from the mistakes
that each generation, each person makes. Every person makes good and
bad decisions and choices in his/her life. Murtha was one of these,
one among billions. To say he was an honorable Marine and an
occasionally dishonest politician in the same breath is truthful and
objective, and thus does not dishonor his memory. Both things are
worth remembering about the man, both provide important character
studies and lessons for those that follow, and neither should be
hidden nor forgotten.

My snail mail March 2010 Popular Mechanics magazine showed up here this
morning. On page 14, Solo Act, it says,,,

New Forensic Analysis Shoots A Hole In A Kennedy Assassination Theory.By
Alex Hutchinson.
Digital forensic tools have added to the evidence that Lee Harvey Oswald
was a lone gunner rather than part of a conspiracy to kill President
John F. Kennedy.Hany Farid, director of the Neukom Institute for
Computational Science at Dartmouth College, analyzed a famous photo of
Oswald that some say must have been doctored, because the shadows under
Oswald's nose and behind his body appear to be caused by different light
sources. However, Farid found no sign of tampering when he measured for
inconsistencies in the image's underlying pixels. He also created a 3D
image of Oswald that demonstrated that both shadows could have been made
by the sun at the time Oswald's wife took the photo.Farid says that the
image would be hard to fake today, and likely impossible using 1963
technology.

And I SAY, Hany Farid is FULL of SH.T!!! Photo film negatives are Easy
to fake.

Make no mistake. I didn't like the guy. I didn't care for his
politics. And there was quite a shadow over his public service
career relating to his ethics.

That said, he served as a Marine. No mean accomplishment, there.
And he was elected to the Congress. And though I occasionally
question his integrity, he was certainly no Rod Blagojevich.

But the man is now dead. He can do no harm. He can hurt no one.
He can have little influence. To bash the man, now, is pointless.
And as you correctly point out, Bruce, there are lessons to be
learned and truths to be remembered.

A real piece of political shit who was also a marine at one time. So how
many marines died as the result of Murtha pushing that worthless
piece-of-junk called the V-22 Osprey so that his district gets a piece
of the action? Cost is 114 million bucks per unit that can deliver some
10 (ten) M-16 rifles and their operators...Only qualified M-16 rifle
