what does a 'zoom' meter do??? what is zoom metering? is it worth
dropping hte cash for a light meter that does this??

a "zoom" meter refers to the spot meter. The extra cash lets you go from say
a 4% spot coverage to a 1% spot. If you use the Zone System to calculate
exposure, a 1% spot is a handy thing to have.
