The manual has some examples on Performance editing including getting
the Arpeggiator to work with it. But I can't find anything on getting
a drum voice in a Performance to play, let alone use the arpeggiator
(which is my ultimate goal).
Basically, I would like to have a performance which has the standard
piano/EP, guitar, and other main instruments. I also want a drum kit
in that performance. And I want that drum kit to be arpeggiated, and
split on the keyboard, so that only the very lowest octave will trigger
a drum pattern. I know this is possible, but trying to extrapolate from
the directions hasn't so far been successful.
If anyone has any pointers, FAQ's, web sites, or any info which can
help me, I would really appreciate it. I will also post a summary of
suggestions which are helpful. I'm sure there are other befuddled S80
owners out there. Thanks.

GEN MIDI Common - Arpout on, arpch 2, layer ch 1.
GEN M.KBD Common - Mode 4-Zone.
ARP TYPE Common - Type BigBeat3:DR, Tempo 100, Switch on, Hold on.
ARP LIMIT Common - Note Limit A-1 -- B2.
MIX VCE Part01 - PRE:015(A15)[PF:BasicRoadz].
LYR MODE Part01 - Mode Poly, Arp Off, Layer On, Rcv Ch 1.
LYR LIMIT Part01 - Note Limit A-1 -- B2
LYR TUNE Part01 - Note Shift +0
MIX VCE Part01 - PRE:DR1(A01)[DR:Rock Kit]
LYR MODE Part02 - Arp On, Layer On, Rcv Ch 2.
LYR LIMIT Part02 - Note Limit A-1 -- B2
LYR TUNE Part02 - Note Shift +0
MIX VCE Part03 - PRE1:002(A02)[PF:Stereo Gnd2]
LYR MODE Part03 - Mode Poly, Arp Off, Layer Off, Rcvch 3
LYR LIMIT Part03 - Note Limit C3 -- C7
LYR TUNE Part03 - Note Shift +0
This setup should result in the following:
ARP on notes A-1 through B2 using BigBeat3 drum pattern with a 100 BPM tempo
Basic Roadz on notes A-1 through B2.
Stereo Gnd2 on notes C3 through C7.
Of course you can change voices, drum beats, zone lengths, add a zone (I'm
only using 3 in the above example) or the tempo to your taste. Make sure
you save the performance by press "Store" and inputing a name so that you
can recall it. I would recommend storing to a SmartMedia card so that you
don't have to overwrite any internal performances. If you overwrite an
internal performance and perform a "reset to factory", your performance will
be erased.
BTW there is a S80 mailing list. To subscribe to the list, send a message

hopfully it will grow.
Good luck,
