Andy,

Congratulations. Hopefully you won't have too much re-writing but listen
to your editor.

Thanks for the advice, Dave. However, when I wrote finished I meant...finished! The book is now in the production process and the release is slated for August 2016. In the updated project description on my Indiegogo page earlier this year I wrote that I'd found a second editor for the book. I completely rewrote the book in three months, starting in early February, something I could never have done without the brilliant Lindsey Tate, my second editor.

We met the May deadline and the publisher loved it. He, Stephen Morrison, publisher of Macmillan:Picador, was previously Editor-in-Chief at Penguin Books and brought a keen eye to the manuscript. I spent another month addressing his edits and comments with Lindsey. We also added an Afterword by Dr. Marvin McMillen, former director of the Surgical ICU at Beth Israel Medical Center and now at Berkshire Medical Center, and a Resource Section by Dr. Barbara Wheeler, former president of the American Music Therapy Association, a More Resources Section by me, and References. A lot of work. But, we are done. I've already found a few tweaks for when we get the galleys this Fall, but just minor stuff. Mostly A minor, a few things in Eb minor.

Haha.

I recently read a roundtable interview with several well-known writers and one of them said that you're not really qualified to write a book until you've finished your first book. I know exactly what she meant. So I am looking forward to my second book which I'll be starting after these concerts!

And quite happy to be back to doing music. The second book will be much easier to write in several ways and I won't have to take another time out from playing as I just did. Good to be back in the saddle.

Best regards,
Andrew
