Ranjit made Gyan Dutt its MD of choice in 1938 and 39.
It started releasing its film songs on 78s. In 1940, Khemchand
was recruited and Ranjit had the greatest one-two punch
in the history of Hindi films in Gyan Dutt and Khemchand
for some years. Chandulal Shah had assembled a great
crowd for his studio. Kedar Sharma, Jayant Desai, Motilal,
Khursheed are the names which come readily to mind.
Bulo C Rani also showed his class under the banner.
But the most important name must be Khemchand's.
Here is a list of Ranjit's films in the 10 year span, 1938-47.

With KcP seemingly gone from Ranjit, I did not scan
beyond this point.
As late as 1960s, Ranjit kept adding to its pages.
Wasn't Lata's sublime song 'woh jo milate the kabhii'
sung for a Ranjit film? (Akeli Mat Jaiyo). It is a song
for Madan Mohan fans to crow about.
Ranjit supremo Chandulal Shah was called 'Sardar',
perhaps for his haughty, aristocratic ways. The songs
in his films, esp. the ones during Khemchand years,
bleed Royal blue blood.

Some of Ranjit's singers were -
khursheed, snehprabha, bulo c rani, rajkumari, saigal,
amirbai, vasanti, pagnis, wahidan, gyan dutt, shameem,
brujmala, motilal?, kantilal, ishwarlal, sitara devi, the
other noor jehan, mukesh, k c dey, charley, kusum mantri,
hamida, khan mastana, mohantara, feroze dastur,
zohra (film - rajputani)

This is very very unfortunate especially considering that 78's
of films by other big banners from the era came before.
Imperial Films (Madhuri -1932), Wadia Movietone(Laal-e-yaman - 1933)
,New Theatres (Pooran Bhagat - 1933) , Prabhat Films
(Amrit Manthan - 1934), Saagar Cinetone (Grihalaxmi - 1934).
> Ranjit made Gyan Dutt its MD of choice in 1938 and 39.
Gyan Dutt's first film with Ranjit was Toofani Toli (1937).
Incidentally this was the first Ranjit film for which records
were issued.

Absolutely !
Khemchand's first movie for Ranjit was Man Ki Aankhen (1939).
His debut was also in the same year with Gaazi Salauddin made
by Supreme Pictures.

Man Ki Aankhen - kcp
sg.
Even before Amrit Manthan, some songs in Sairandhri (1933)
were released on 78 by Prabhat.

No, Khemchand's first release for Ranjit was in 1940.
What is 'Man Ki Aankhen' supposed to mean and where
did you get this (mis)information? The film Khemchand
composed for in 1939 was Merii Aankhen urf My Eyes.
That film, like Gaazii Salauddin, was also a Supreme
Pictures production.

Once again, Meri Aankhen (not Man Ki Aankhen) was not
a Ranjit production.
