Is it me or has Jay-Z's reaosnable doubt transformed itself into the sleeper
of the year? I was unexpectedly suprised by the production, something that has
been sorely lacking on a few albums of recent. I was not so much mermrized by
the beats as I was by the lyrics. Looking at the cover one is ultimately led to
the assumption it's another entry into the cliched, and overused theme of
gangsta. but though he touches upon that theme quite often he is intelligent
about it, and he refutes it looking at rap as venue for him to alleviate
himself of his guilt. listen to Can I Live, and Dead Presidents, and youknow
that thiskid is edcuated, and not simply another head attempting to make it eay
in this game by exacting the same tired "versace" tales on the consumer. I
bought this, and Nas, and though I'll probably get flamed for this, I'm more
impressed by Jay'z album than Nas's sophmore effort. I'd go so far as to label
Nas' effort as sohpmoric as it was lacking in content, remaining with one
redeeming element. His flow, something that will never cease to amaze, but is
hardly worth praising if his content remains embedded in arrogant gun talk.
Although I did love "I gave u power" Phat track, and highly condradictory
considering the remaining subject matter strewn on the album. Anyways am I the
only one here who thinks Jay-Z got a winner on his hands?

I concurr. The joint before Dead Ps was good but the video was
wack as hell. JZ didn't even look like he was comfortable in front
of the camera, and that whole "playas in the carribean" concept was
just wack. I remember when I saw it I was like "Oh, another bunch
of drug dealin nuhs spending they money on a wack as video,
thinking they big willies and the director should be shot." Oh,
just remembered that shit was called "In My Lifetime" which makes
total since when seen as part of an overall hip-hopera. Which I
think DPz is. Anyway, I remember being at work and hearing DPs for
the millionth time, but beacuse of the way and place I was
listening to it I noticed something about the music. Be a psuedo
producer I was like subconsciously checking those vibes, cause I'ma
a vibe man, and next thing I know I'm saying to myself`"this is
kinds dope". Then afta peeping "Aint No" I was like a-ight more
playa shit, phuk this nigga, especially afta hearing that weak shit
with Biggie, but then the new shit dropped in full and I was like
this fool gonna go gold...So while I still haven't purchased it, I
probably will eventually, I'm give him the three single test, gotta
hear 3 dope joints before I cop that album...shit times is hard,
and I been buying hella vinyl from these homeless cats, so ends
a'int up to par...any way, to quote one of y'all brothers out
there, this is just my two cents...peace Tcubed...
