I think the UK had the best musical taste that fine day (with the US close

It was more a comment on age difference with yet another failed attempt
at humor. However, as it is a mountain, I consider the limits of
others when thinking of a route. Joe had some comments about some of
the trails I like, like "15 mile forced hike" or "oh boy" (that's
steep). Which is why I'm still waiting to hear from whomever wants to
hike in March, I can offer up some ideas for loops that would make
everybody happy. Depends on how much energy one can put into it safely.

Apparently, it was confidential information in the US, as the info is
"not available."

However, it seems Perry Como was ruling the UK and Oz, with Magic
Moments and Catch a Falling Star.

I looked around and did find that the most played song by jocks the
week I was born was "He' Got the Whole World in His Hands" by Laurie
London.

Now, proving once again that real life makes the worst fiction, in
that "get the fuck outta here" way it so often does, here's a true
story, cause mom wouldn't lie:

I was an extremely premie, bouncing into this world three and a half
months early, which was viewed as quite miraculous at the time. They
told my mom that the chances of me living were so slim that she
"shouldn't name it."

Well, as the tale goes, they had a radio in the delivery room, but
when things got seriously sticky in the procedure, they turned it off
in an "ok, let's focus, people" kind of deal. But when "it"
successfully popped out, they turned the radio back on, and the very
first thing that came out was, "He's got the little bitty baby, in His
hands."

On an unrelated note, I find many of these songs folks are mentioning
to be, well, quite threatening.

Well. . . they're all over Hartford and I think that qualifies.

> as far as I know.

Which continues to be about as far as he can throw . . . a slyder.
They're tiny burgers, not much weight, can't really fling 'em very
far.

> there are no fast food places in my town.pop 23,000.

Yes there are. Guaranteed. And I'm not even sure what town/city this
schmuck lives in, although I think he may have said Dedham. In the
Dedham mall there's a Five Guys and Fries.

Five guys and fries is definitely a fast food place. It's a production
line hamburger joint. No table service. So unless the Dedham Mall
isn't in Dedham at all, this schmuck on wheels is wrong yet again.

> I do live within 2 miles of 5 Dunkin Donuts.

And no less than two of them are in Dedham proper. Bussey Street, and
Providence Highway. The one on Providence is less than a mile from a
Burger King and a Taco Bell, which may not technically be Dedham, hard
to say from the map.

In Dedham, there is a Dominos Pizza on Washington Street, and a Papa
Ginos and a Starbucks on Providence.

Five Guys is good, I'm told.
If there really are no fast food joints there,
one of us with $ should open one.
Probably do good business.
When I got to B'ham I was surprised at the
lack of doughnuts (only KK) and bagels.
And when I saw Chicken Biscuits on breakfast
menus, coming from CA, I thought, WTF?
They are *good*, though.
I never eat 'em, even when I *had* money,
but actually I tried one at the Peds Clinic I
worked in for 7 years, when they used to get
pharmaceutical reps bringing in food and lunches
all the time. Mmmm. Chick Fillet is the good one.

You should really hang your head when you're wrong and Ray is right.
There are no WC's in Hartford or New England, although you can find
boxes of the frozen WC burgers in some supermarkets.

A Five Guys just opened up less than a mile from my house. And yummy

Yup.

I admit my error.

When you search for locations in Hartford, 16 come back, but they are
apparently in NY. I read the map wrong. When you search for White
Castles in Boston, none come back. Honest mistake, and unlike our
friend RayRay, I can admit when I'm wrong.

Not wrong about Five guys or DD or Dominos or Papa Ginos, or Starbucks
though.

RayRay remains the most uniformed "expert" on the planet.

Some of us learn from our mistakes - which is a good thing - and
others just keep fighting with misinformation.

Thanks for the clarification, Jim.

What town is that? I guarantee you there are fast food places in ANY
town of 23,000, especially if you're inside 128.

Exactly what do you think Dunkin Donuts is?

I've been through this with Ray before. Dedham is *chock full* of
fast food places. The idea that there are no fast food restaurants in
Dedham is *beyond* ridiculous. It's ludicrous.

There are no fast food restaurants in Washington DC either.

You ever walk into a Papa Ginos? Pizzas sitting right there, waiting
for you to buy a slice. Oh, and let;s not forget about the burger
joint and burrito shop at the Dedham Mall, or the Au Bon Pain in
Legacy Place, or any of the dozen sub shops around.

Peace,

Interesting that the health page at Yahoo yesterday had its list of
America's worst French fries. From there:

Worst Regular Order of Fries
Five Guys Fries (large)
1,464 calories
71 g fat (14 g saturated)
213 mg sodium

Unfortunately, Five Guys doesnt offer anything but fries in the side
department. Your safest bet, of course, is to skip the fries altogether
(youd be better off adding a second patty to your burger), but if you
cant bring yourself to eat a burger sans fries, then split a regular
order. That will still add 310 calories to your meal, but it beats
surrendering more than 75% of your days calories to a greasy paper bag.

Oh, and of course a link for those interested in seeing who else is on
the list:

Oh, man....that is horrible.
I've never eaten there, but a
few stores down from where my son works
is a Five Guys, so he and other employees
go there. My son either takes a sandwich
now or goes without until he gets home,
due to lack of finances. So it may be
a blessing in disguise.

the people who create those lists think we should only eat fibre enhanced
cardboard while staying at home but do not watch TV.

Good birth story, Fred. I did think,
though, it was going to end with something
about what you were named. If it was related
to that song, might she have named you "God"?
My dad told me my birth story a few years before
he died, he'd been at a big college football game
with buddies and Mom went into labor *hours* before
he finally got home, dad was a bit drunk and mom was
pissed and in pain, and they took a cab to the
hospital while Dad "held you in"... (horrible!)
I think that's why she never liked me. ;)
