tto. the filk song

One day we found ourselves in a big North Dakota town
There wasn't anything to do that we could find around
The library was closed and there were no board games to play
It seems that everything was locked up on that dull Sunday

It was bland in Fargo everyone!
Bland in Fargo and there was no place to run!
We spent a most dull shore leave there for just three days or four
And everything in Fargo was a bore.

We went down to the beach and we could see there floating free
A lot of old containers and what looked like ship's debris
Shoes and socks and TV chassis, everything that you could name
That all this stuff fell off the deck and landed was a shame.

It was abandoned cargo everyone!
Abandoned cargo, from containers to oil drums!
We spent a jolly shore leave there for just three days or four
To watch the tide bring wreckage to the shore.

The golf cart at the festival was kind of wobbily
They put a dozen people on with guitars and stuff you see
It took off with a jerk and instantly we found
To not fall off it is important to sit down.

You can't stand on Pargos everyone!
You can't stand on Pargos or you'll fall down on your bum!
We spent a jolly festival for just three days or four
But left it feeling just a little sore.

We found some nifty foreign foods down at the dollar store
The dates were good but turned out they were no good anymore.
We cooked them Bordeaux-style and in a bouillabaise
Then couldn't leave the bathroom for at least a dozen days.

It was off-brand escargot everyone!
Off-brand escargot caused a problem in our tum!
We spent a day of shore leave or perhaps a week or more
We won't be buying that stuff any more.

We went down to a concert by a local symphony
The program said they'd an excerpt from an opera 'bout Xerxes
The first strains were familiar then the horns all came right in
The band was trying to play slow and managed quite a din.

They played Handel's Largo everyone!
Handel's Largo and they gave it quite a run!
We had a jolly concert there for just three hours or four,
And everyone stood up for an encore.

Please annotate this reference.
Wikipedia says that a "pargo" (no capitalization) is a fish, but I don't
think that's what you meant.

I'm also reeling at Fargo having a beach, but I assume you mean the Red
Rivr shore.
Or maybe that the "North floodplain" really flooded and stayed that way.

May I print this song in Xeno once I know more about it?

Pargo is a company that makes golf-cart-like scooters. Such things are
usually referred to as "pargos" by festival staff even when they are made
by Yamaha or EZ-Go.

What's wrong with a little poetic license?

Certainly.

Sadly I was unable to work in "on the lam with Margot" but feel free to try
to make it fit.

When we were in that boring place we found that we were stuck.
We had to call on triple-A to send us a tow truck.
The guys at the repair shop said they couldn't make it run.
Until they find the problem it would seem we are undone,

Can you make our car go, anyone?
Make our car go, please, vacation's just begun.
We jolly well don't like it here for one day, much less four,
So make our car go, someone, we implore.

And then we met a pirate crew but they were kind of mute.
They couldn't make a single sound, their pistols wouldn't shoot.
A wicked witch had cursed them all so silence was their plight.
And furthermore they couldn't drink their liquor through the night.

Yes they were banned from "Arr!", "Yo-ho!" and rum!
Banned from "Arr!", "Yo-ho!" and ever having any fun.
They gave up trying further when they found they couldn't score
And sailed back t'ward that witch's cursed shore.
