I composed this in my head as I was out wandering, appropriately enough,
and typed it in as soon as I got home. The idea is so obvious that
someone may have already done it, but searching the Xenofilkia and Filk
Book indexes doesn't turn up anything that looks like it.
The Happy Valkyrie
Words: Gary McGath, Copyright 2015
Music: "The Happy Wanderer"
I love to go to battlefields
And gather up the dead
To bring them all to Odin's hall,
My helmet on my head.
Chorus:
Valkyrie! Valkyrah!
Valkyrie! Valkyrah, Ho-yo-to-ho-yo,
Valkyrie! Valkyrah!
My helmet on my head.
[Change last line of each chorus to match last line of verse]
Within Valhalla's spacious grounds
They fight and die all day,
And then they wake for dinner break
Just like the SCA.
Chorus
At Ragnarok they'll take up arms
Against the Jotuns' might.
They won't prevail, but what a tale
In that last glorious fight.
Chorus
