A lot of these lyrics are meant to be interchangeable according to your mood or whatever. I tried to perform it for the first time tonight at my first house filk sing, but I was so shy and nervous I couldn't hold a note and couldn't play it on my harp anyway so just sang the first 3 stanzas, got a laugh out of the crowd, and then told them that the song wasn't finished. LOL. I was shaking so much!

I've actually had this song written for months now - I had no idea the political climate happening now would happen. This song is not referring to the protests at all.

What I used to do when about to perform (especially on stage at a con..)
was to scare myself ahead of time so I wouldn't get stage fright. Oddly
enough, it still works.

This weekend for me what happened was being stuck in the middle of the convention mess hall and left by the husband, begged for songs by an elder, and being in a familiar "diner theatre" environment. Can't promise that will work at the next filk sing. :-pP
