Chicago 1969 [no label, 2CD]
Live at the Key Largo Club, Chicago, Illinois; February 23, 1969. Good
to fairly good soundboard.

There is some serious blues here but unfortunately, the mix might put
some listeners off.

RandyBayers at Dime had this to say: “This recording had all the
vocals, drums, and keys in the left channel and all the guitar and
bass in the right channel.” As a result, RandyBayers tinkered with the
tracks for a more balanced mix (”converted each channel from mono to
stereo and mixed both channels together.”) Those who are interested
can download the “remastered” tracks here.

Meanwhile, music fan taperpat provided some background on taper Dick
Shurman who recorded the show: “Dick used a number of stage mics that
were Y-jacked together to try and capture the stage sound without
using a mixer which accounts for unbalanced effect. Dick went on to a
professional career as a very successful blues producer in the Chicago
area. The recording of this particular session was given to a friend
who then bootlegged it to the world. It’s a partial capture.”
