Aren't the Grammy's due to air this Monday (27 January)? I'm curious
to know if any of the Threetles are scheduled (or rumored) to be
there?

Just my luck, I'll be in NYC on business Wednesday and Thursday, too
late for a sighting, to be sure! ;^)

isn't it a bit rediculous that sgt pepper is the only Beatles album to have
won "Album Of The Year" and Michelle the only song to win song of the year?
especially considering that Double Fantasy won album of the year... was the
voting after Lennon's death? nothing against DF but it doesn't measure up to
any Beatles album.

The Grammy's will air on Wednesday night, February 26, 1997,
at 8pm EST & PST on CBS! For more info, the NARAS Grammy
WWW site is at URL:

You are probably thinking about the American Music Awards, hosted
by comedian <?> Sinbad, tonight (Monday) at 8pm EST on ABC.

As for any Threetle appearance rumors for either show, I am not aware
of any....*yet*! :^)

Yes. I think it was spring of 1981. DF would probably not win if not for
John's death (nothing against the album...it just wouldn't have won for
the same reasons the Beatles didn't win many)(what ARE those reasons,
you may very well ask?)(actually, I'm as surprised as you are...you mean
that there were BETTER albums than Rubber Soul & Revolver those
years?)(of course not, but it's been fun having this parenthetical
argument with myself)

I have thrown this question out to everyone I can think of, with
no luck. I seem to remember an awards show in early '74 where Paul
and Linda accepted an award. I don't recall if it was the Grammys
or the Oscars, but it seemed a surprise when they took the stage.
Anyone else remember the details of this appearance?

Are you should it wasn't an Oscar for Live and Let Die? I believe that
was in '74.

Yes. If John hadn't been murdered, DF wouldn't have even been
considered. As for Grammies in the 60's, It's funny (in a dis-
gusting way) to see who the winners were, like Up, Up and Away
by the 5th Dimension. "Who?", You ask? Don't bother.

My rule is to normally ignore the most popular stuff. Years later people
will remember the good stuff and pretend they like it, but back in 1969
with woodstock and abbey road all the tenny boppers were dancing to the
Archies "Sugar Sugar" song. Just like no one will admidt to liking that
achey breakey song, but the damn thing sold an alful lot of copies.

When I wake up in the morning I can never really get going untill i have my first piping hot pot of coffee. Sure, I've tried other enemas....

The award was most likely for Band on the Run, which won two grammies: best
group performance and best engineered record. (Yes! Paul does have some
big-selling and acclaimed solo records to his credit!). Live and Let Die
was nominated, I think, for an oscar, but failed to win.

I think Paul got an Oscar for "Live and Let Die" didn't he (from the
James Bond film of the same name)? That would have been around '75.
I thought it was a new low, even for an ex-Beatle; the worst of
sell-out commercialism.

One: it was because of the Beatles that "Live And Let Die" was made, since
the Fabs owed UA five title songs and had only made four -- AHDN, HELP!,
YS and LIB. John declined, Paul accepted the obligation.

Two: he did not win. If Paul and Linda accepted an award in 1974, it would
have been for BAND ON THE RUN, and a Grammy.

I've got to disagree. If Paul had written a "Nobody Does it Better"
or "Goldfinger" type James Bond theme, it sure would have been a sell
out. His was the first of the "rock" themes for the films. He
brought McCartney to the James Bond movie rather than writing a James
Bond song. I think L&LD is a Paul song inspired by James Bond rather
than written in the James-Bond-Theme-Formula. That makes it far from
a sell out.

Plus, it's a great song.

I think it was the 71 or 72 Oscars, when "Let It Be" won for best
motion picture score. The award was to John, Paul and George only
if I remember correctly...
