Hey,
AFAIK there is no diabolo simulator available; although there is
various flash animations/videos/animated gifs covering most, if not
all, of the diaboloists moves. Try www.jugglingdb.com and searching
for vids there.

Hi,
I'm afraid there is no specified simulator for diabolo tricks.
Kinda hard to make a simulator of diabolo don't you think?
There are many animated gifs though.
You can learn many tricks from http://www.diabolotricks.com

Good luck

Not really; think about how 'complicated' the maths are for 12 balls;
jongl does that, with realtime shading and shadows.
There is also simulators for devilsticks...i'm sure there are people
willing to contribute towards a diabolo simulator project...
anyone?

But the advantage that balls have is that we have a notation for them,
Has anyone come up with a machine readable notation scheme for diabolo
yet?

Are there? Any links? I'd be interested, mainly from the point of view
of seeing how they describe tricks as I can't remember seeing a
notation so I think i'd find that interesting! :-)

Yeah, as soon as I find it again i'll post it here; it was either a java
applet or some sgml (or something similar); and now i've started to
understand siteswap i'm more interested in notation.
..wondering how to notate diabolo/devilstick movement.
maybe xml would be the way to go, building up out of pre-defined movements
such as

<trick name="tick tock" author="dave">
<spin direction="clockwise" angle="90" speed="2" repeat="1" />
</trick>

Thanks for the posts. Right now I'm learning diabolotricks by video and
then draws some figures on paper. Wouldn't it be possible to make some
kind of notation for diabolo (and devilstick as well)?

Any kind of ideas are welcome!

Maybe it is possible to create a definition list based on some basic
tricks and movements:

CS Clockwise Sun
SGr Stick Grind (Right stick)
etc.

Then use the abbreviations to describe tricks with new abbreviations.

There is a yo-yo notation (and diabolo's are closely related to yo-yos).
It's Mark McBride's doing (http://www.yonomicon.com ). You can learn some
of it at the website but to full comprehend it you must get the book.

There's even someone in the process of making a yo-yo simulator
(http://www.knot-theory.com) but I'm not sure if this project is still being
worked on.

Just some points of interest. Proof that it can be done I suppose.

the xml thing sounds really cool, you could start with base patterns and
apply generic stylesheets for things like crossing arms / under the leg
etc.

For juggling I wonder if that would work with some kind of XMLised
siteswap, things like pattern transitions could be performed using a
stylesheet that worked on pattern States.
