Can anyone tell me how powerful the BSA 240 Magnum airpistol is? I've heard
that it's 4ft/lbs in .177, and 5 in .22, but can anyone verify this for
me?

My .22 240 shoots a H&N match pellet at an avg of 368fps; about 4ft/lbs.
It is a UK spec version I purchased about a year ago. I heard that more
powerful US spec versions are available.

We tested a BSA 240 Magnum in the February 1995 issue of "The Airgun
Letter." The gun we examined was new. It shot RWS Hobby pellets at 513 fps and
was still shooting them at that speed 300 shots later. Maximum velocity
variation was 10 fps. Hobby pellets weigh 6.9 gr. nominally, which gives a
muzzle energy of 4.03 ft.-lbs. The pistol grouped 5 shots just under an inch from
a hand-held rested position at 25 ft.

Closer to 4.5 for the 177 and 5.5 for the 22.
