an alternate method for stats generation

let player choose freely their stats, like
STR x DEX x CON x INT x WIS x CHA

and assume an average 12 for each so that the multiplication gives 3M ; this sum / 10 gives xp for a 9th level chr; divide the total by 2.500 to obtain the total xp from 1st level;
player gets to choose freely each stat; to begin a 6M chr ( that is, half standard progression ) would permit a 30 x 20 x 10 x 10 x 10 x 10, or 17 x 16 x 15 x 13 x 11 x 10
likewise, if want to play a fast progression chr, you could spend 16 x 16 x 16 x 6 x 6 x 6

totaling a good 1.000.000 score, /2.560 = 400xp for 1st level

each level beyond 9th would require the same amount as for a 9th level:


imagine a 3.000.000 multiplier

This seems like a recipe for encouraging grinding.

The other downside is that if I can get by with one very low stat, I can
munchkin out the others. CHA 1 - who cares if shops are horribly
expensive, with 25/25/25/12/12 on the other stats at no XP penalty?
