The link below references another current post that struck a sour note
with me:

http://groups-beta.google.com/group/rec.games.pinball/msg/7f61303020ffc92f?hl=en&

I went through this same thing when I got my ugly divorce. I had a
storage room full of junkers. I mean these were borderline, "do I keep
them or throw them in the dumpster". My ex went onto Mr. Pinball
Classifieds and took every title I had and printed out the most
expensive for sale, working, shopped machine on the site, and submitted
it to the court.

The value was she listed, added to her inflated parts value, put me
near $400,000. The court told the oposing counsel to find someone to
appraise the games. A guy from about 60 miles north of me took the
assingment. (I know him). He came down, went through it all, and
left. He never completed the apprasial because he started feeling bad.
All he told them was I had less than half of what she said I did. This
was a bad statement because of that comment. "Less than half". So how
much less? Be specific and put a "LOW" number on it.

My point is I think you are pretty low to appraise a fellow pin
collectors stuff at anything higher than bottom of the barrel prices,
no matter what. I mean the guy is getting screwed anyway. Why dick him
some more? Junkers, say "no value'. If they ask you to specify a price
say $5 at the parking lot fleamarket. Use your head here.

The neat thing is when the Judge asked me what I wanted to do I told
him this. "She says they are worth $400,000, I owe her $120,000 on the
house. I'll give her it all for my house back". The Judge asked her if
she was agreeable to that. She jumped up and said, "hell no, it's
nothing but junk and what am I going to do with it"?

The Judge then said, "good, no value, you keep all your games and parts
in exchange for the furnishings she already has in her possesion,
what's next"? Man was she pissed.

So if you are going through a divorce, (California only please), and
need an apprasial, I'll take care of you! I know how this game goes.

Sometimes there is some justice.

Please, please bear this in mind, people: old insurance lists, loan
apps and financial statements can be used against you, so think twice
before inflating your pins' value in writing!

Get a good attorney. And should your stuff be appraised high, let the other
side have it at that value as part of any settlement. LTG :)

Not sure if this is an option, but you could always can giver her the
physical machines and make her do the legwork to sell them.

Chances are she'll loose money like most people do when they try to
sell games

I've never had to deal with this as my 1st 7 Wifes could care less
about Pinball
& would rather do Yard-work & other silly crap , I think I'd "loan" all
of mine out before letting them get drawn into any kind of
settlement,,1st sign of trouble & <Poof> mine would be gone !

Yep.

What pinball machines? Do you have the receipts? Oh, you have pictures of
them......let me look....oh yeah I remember them, they have been gone for a
while. They weren't mine anyway, I was holding them for (insert pinball
buddy here). He took them all back.

I know some of you guys have too many to make disappear, but mine would all
be gone in one day.

7 wives, Derrill? And they all had the same thing written in the divorce
complaints "He just doesn't listen to me!" :)
Sorry bro! Cheap shot, I know, but it was just hanging there! :P

That is how you ended up with so many kids. Laying in bed, one of your wives
would say " you want to watch the tonight show or what ? " and you'd say
"what". LTG :)

not to mention as she would have to pretty much sell them on mr.
pinball or she wont even be able to find a buyer and in that case you
should give the rest of us a heads up, so we know not to buy them.

or give her a hard freaking time

Does anyone else see a problem here?
1- SEVEN wives? How do you trick that many women into marriage?
2- WHY would you trick that many women into marriage? (unless you are
207 years old)
3- HOW do you get them to do yard work?

I listed mine as separate property. I could have traced all the game
purchases to either a separate account, or from a trade from a game that was
separate property. I kept pretty good records and almost always got a
written receipt for every game bought. When my ex and her lawyer saw my big
box of records that I brought to the settlement conference - they decided
not to fight me on the pins if I would agree to give her a Ms. Pac.video
game. Notonly was I able to keep the pins, but I got to keep the house too.
