Skip the video stuff-experience it live.
From videos, I was wondering how it would play out-seemed like you
would be in a bar playing pinball you couldn't hear and listening to a
jukebox of AC/DC.
Well I got to play it. The game is fun. I had a chance to play both
the Pro and Premium versions. On the Pro, I think the "face" is not
the issue it is made to be and the Pro game plays wicked fast. Is
Angus "stunning" to look at? Well, no, he's Angus! But the big mug
shot did not affect me one way or the other.
I like the Premium's drop targets and thought the game played pretty
fast. Some expresed the drops would deaden the ball. Seemed to play
darn fast to me. I preferred the Premium art package over the Pro
(and the LEs I have seen photos of). I do like what I see with the
side rails on the LEs.
The lower playfield was fun, but did not seem to be a critical element
in the games I played. I played several of the Hell modes to see what
it did. Love the "Welcome to Hell" call outs and the insults.
Since I don't have full-time access to the game, I cannot really
comment too much, but I liked the rules-at least the ones I figured
out, flow and overall gameplay and I was enjoying switching back and
forth with songs. Listening to the song was not the issue I thought it
may be.
Of course if you are NOT a fan of AC/DC you will hate the game
soundtrack quickly. It is basically nothing but AC/DC rather than
pinball sounds. It is not do a certain sequence to hear an AC/DC song
now and then. You play the game for 3 minutes it's all AC/DC, or play
a marathon game-all AC/DC. I hear people complain they are tired of
hearing Back in Black, Highway to Hell etc. because they are on the
radio all the time. Well, this game won't make you happier :)
I will say I did not like the amount of times the ball would drain
SDTM-reminded me of the Avatar issue. (The games were leveled side to
side OK) I have seen where some people have adopted placing a larger
rubber grommet to deflect the ball, some have not. On the ones I
played, the game likes to drain out of the bumpers, and if the tilt
is tight, nudging is not going to save you. It was far too often to
be considered "random" or to say "that's pinball."
I am still a newbie on the game figuring out scoring strategies. 192
MIL is my high so far which I very well know is not very high at all
considering all the stuff you COULD do with double or triple scoring
etc. Lots of games in the wham, bam, thank you ma'am range :)
Nontheless, I feel, the GC scores by the A-players on this game are
going to be HUGE.
So far I like it. Looking forward to more time on it.
