Replay at 20M, totally reachable on a decent game, even Boag scored a
couple ;-P
Tilt more than fair.
Please grab a Michigan Pinball Expo flyer off one of the games and
help spread the word!
This Iron Man will be used in the tourny at the MPE, so get your
practice in now!
Thanks, Koz
PS: Thank you Stern and thank you Trent A.
Thanks for the call Koz.......

I took my 4 year old nephew to Marvins over Christmas. He was scared
to death, we had to leave right away. I guess some of the older puppet
stuff is pretty freaky...
no problem!
Thanks to Marvin for believing in Pinball and showing his continuous
support to all us pinball players. I'll be there to put in some plays
tonight.

Yea, come an play. It looks really nice. It seemed to play mean at
first (factory settings) but after a couple games we (not just KOZ)
were getting decent game times. I like the way it seems like you are
battling the game as you play. The volume is pretty high and it
sounds great. Great lighting also. If they finish the software (and
it is pretty good so far - even has a good match sequence LOL) this is
going to be a good one.

Enjoyed the ONE play I took at PATZ on IM. The flow seemed nice, the
magnet throwing around the ball was cool. With properly setup
outlanes and tilt the ball times should be tolerable and not too fast
to discourage players. The only bad thing I experienced while playing
was the RAM type KICKER putting the ball SDTM without a ball saver,
perhaps a later software revision will address the problem.

Just put V.91 on Marvin's Iron Man. The normal Sunday younger Kids
have been playing it. So far so good.
Parker
Does that make the right ramp work correctly? ;)
Aron
Will outlane changes and other pf adjustments as well as game option
settings be made after we get our practice in on the MPE machine just
prior to the tourney?
1st mod to IRONMAN will be adding a kicker to the right ramp so the
ball actually makes it around when it should. :D
Just put a Terry at Pinball life coil on both flippers!

Brian M. and I played a few games over lunch today. Game is getting
better (this is first
time I played it with .19 code). Still love the sound. More voice
calls now also.
Adjusted the plunger to hit the center of the ball to fix the short
plunge problem.
Waxed the entrance to the right ramp and this seems to have made a big
difference on the make ability of the ramp. I saw a couple of NOT
"dead on" shots make it anyway.
I think this is why? Before waxing I took a ball and just rolled it
up the ramp to see if it was hopping, etc. When I did this I noticed
the ramp was REALLY gripping the ball. If you tried to slide the ball
on the ramp, while not letting it roll, it felt like the ramp was made
of rubber. Seriously, the ramp seems plenty strong but it is a softer
plastic. Made it isn't fully cured or maybe that is just the way it
is. By waxing it the ball now slides like one would expect. Not so
sure this is the "fix" yet but time well tell. Please let me know if
you play it again and if you see any difference or not!

Iron Man was just okay for me. As others have mentioned, the art and
sounds really are top notch. Game play for me was just okay - not
bad, just okay. I completely agree that the flipper coils need an
upgrade, ramp shots were impossible if not flushed down the middle.
IM was better then I expected and alot of fun to play. Great Sound
calls! Goregous artwork.
I almost got to the Wizard mode after Parker left. Only needed to
light War Machine.
Ended up putting my initials in for #2 High Score!
This machine will be a great earner for ops.

Forgot to say we also changed the ball saver from 5 seconds to 7.
This helps with the quick draines (mostly for the kids and Newbies).
Parker
Believe me: it's not the coil strength. They're *plenty*
strong...perhaps even too much so. It's at least a good deal due to
the way the ramp is (poorly) designed, and possibly partly due to the
pitch of the machine or the way it's set up and what-not.
Aron
I had no problems making 3 in a row ;-)
HOLLA! HOLLA! DOLLA!

Nor did I have any problem paying it, as it did get my point across.
You yourself were witness to what I was saying on at least one
occasion. Don't spend it all in one place. ;)
Aron
I still stick by my thoughts on SM...though I absolutely say that the
game plays far better with all white rubber. It's somewhat tolerable
with white! Still, the mushy software, the loop design problem
(which, to be fair, the software corrects for the most part), and the
general enjoyment of the title just isn't there for me. Love the
humor of JJJ's commentary, but just don't enjoy the "Everything feels
like everything else!" software package on that game. It's just
so...the same.
Glad that you enjoy it though, Greg.
Aron
Played a 35M game and only managed to light one of the characters.
Looks like just starting the MB is no longer enough to light them, as
it should be, IMO. You gotta kill em, I thinks.

This is the way Crazy Carl's Iron Man is set up
also. Moved the inlane posts inward one spot
from stock. White rubber. Ball saver to 12 seconds
(yes it seems long, as the default is 5 seconds,
but it prevents those suicide balls.) Also
the flippers are 'enhanced' too. Right ramp is
no problem. Finally the Iron Man at carl's
is set to 50 cent per game. And there are
15 other pinball machines at carl's too, including
a ball bowler.

As Koz has well pointed out, Carl's is not a "destination"
for pinball, like say Marvin's is. hence i have to use
gimmick tactics to get people to come. For example,
Kids play Free at Carl's on select games. All they
have to do is ask the counter person for some tokens,
and they play free. Also no game is over 50 cents a play,
and frankly most are 25 cents.
I'm not doing this to earn a living. It's a fun thing
for me, to keep pinball in the public's eye. Frankly
if you transplanted all the Carl's pinballs to Marvin's
and ran them the same way, it would be a nightmare
(the games would be played into the ground.) But
Carl's is not Marvin's, so i can get away with stuff
that otherwise wouldn't make financial sense.

What the hell is mushy software??? ;-)
Todd S.
"Mushy software" is best defined (by me) as "where every single thing
feels exactly like every other thing, with little-to-no variation
between them". All the multiballs feel the same, the modes, heck,
even the scoring of such. It's all just one big glob which somehow
becomes less than the sum of its parts. Stacking things doesn't feel
like anything more than starting a ball saver and possibly adding a
ball or two to whatever you're currently in the middle of. When
everything's generic, nothing stands out. Does that unmurkify the
waters a bit?
