Small Stakes Hold'em by Ed Miller, Sklansky, Mallmuth is prolly better than Lee
Jones's book. Good for loosey, goosey no fold'em games.
Weighing the Odds in Hold'em by King Yao is supposed to be the bomb. Haven't
received mine yet.

If you are talking about Texas Hold'em poker I think one of the best
books out there for limit is Championship Hold'em by McEvoy & Cloutier.
Limit poker covers a great deal of ground.
It can't hurt to start with Sklansky's THEORY OF POKER
As a general poker book, Mike Caro's BOOK OF TELLS and his latest book
on poker in genral, title forgotten, would be good choices.
For an absolute beginner, Carson's latest on casino poker would be good
but it isn't as good as the He book by him.
Vorhaus KILLER POKER seemed very good when I read it. Specific play
advice isn't its strong area though.
For He in general I would recommend, Caron's COMPLETE BOOK OF HOLDEM
POKER. The ideas on table selection and seat selection extend beyond He
and into the category of general poker books.
For loose games common at the lower limits, I would say Miller,
Sklansky & Malmuth's SMALL-STAKES HOLDEM
For tighter games, I would recommend Ciaffone and Brier's book on
medium stakes He, title forgottn and Sklansky & Malmuth's latest book
on He, title forgotten and Abdul-Jalib's sparse website info.
For O8, I would recommend Capalletti's book, title forgotten, author
misspelled, Steve Badger's articles on his website and Annie Duke's
articles online.
For Stud8, I would recommend something by Ray Zee, title forgotten
For stud, I would recommend Ashley Adams book, title forgotten (sorry,
Ashley) and Sklansky's Advanced Players stud book, the latter only by
reputation as I have not read it because I am not playing much stud.
