We know that the hundreds of millions of dollars the federal government
spends on beyond worthless abstinence only programs has to go somewhere.
But where?

UCF got 434k in federal dollars to design a video game where girls put on
a Virtual Reality suit to "practice saying no" to digital characters who
hit on them.

Yay small government conservatives who push these programs! And yay
Obama, who revived the programs after briefly suspending them as part of a
compromise on the health care bill. (the republicans got 250 million for
abs-only, obama got zero votes - pretty standard "compromise")

250 million dollars while we layoff teachers and cops!

Republicans should really stop complaining about taxes and spending
when they approve wasting money on things like abstinence education.

The alternative to abstinence only education is not abortion, mo. It's
teaching kids how to actually avoid pregnancy in the first place. AOE
simply doesn't work, and this has been shown quite clearly. Teaching
kids that abstinence is the only way to go does not keep kids from
having sex, but it does make them less likely to use contraception when
they do.

And to get a bit deeper into the issue, OPG is right; this is another
great example of how religious conservatives in America have become
irrational, often hypocritical tools for the right. They are not simply
fans of small government - they want government to step in and outlaw
abortions and fund bullshit like this. They have aligned themselves
with the right on all sorts of issues that have nothing to do with
Christianity, and may even be counter to its principles, such as a
general slant against environmentalism, and a distrust of government and
"socialism", and they stopped making sense a long time ago.

It seems like Jesus actually spent his time hanging out with sinners,
befriending tax collectors, and defending the poor. I don't think he
would have be caught dead in one of today's Evangelical Megachurches.

I think we should push girls to back alley abortions with rusty wire
hangers. It solves more problems. First, more of these girls will die,
thus reducing the number of future abortions. Second, many will become
infected and later become sterile, with much the same benefits of the
former. Win win for everybody.

As is the case with about 74% of your posts - I have no idea what you're
trying to communicate. You are one of the most difficult motherfuckers to
coordinate in the history of RGP. It seems like you're implying that 250
million for abstinence only education is sound spending by the federal
government because it drops the abortion rate - but I can't imagine you'd
say something that dumb and nonsensical. Well, I can imagine it, but only
because I have a vivid imagination.
