if rolling dice for 300k a pop doesn't pan out, he's always got blackjack,
sports gambling, and a hell of an entourage to pull him out of his slump.

Phil Ivey is never going broke. He owns a piece of Full Tilt. He has won
so much money playing poker that it would offset his other gambling if
that ever went bad. He is invested in multiple companies and other
ventures. The dude is worth 150 million+. He will be OK for a long long
time.

Proud to be one of the 69,000,000+ Americans who voted for Barack Hussein
Obama. Scoreboard, mutha fuckas.

I actually found this link after I wrote my response. I guess I made a
pretty good guess.

www.philiveyrules.com/other-players/phil-iveys-net-worth/

Basically, if Phil Ivey is worth 120 million and he rolls dice at 30k a
clip that is like someone worth 100k rolling dice at 25 bucks a clip.

You really dont undestand much about "gambling " and how hard people will
search for ways to fail.

What do you think happens when someone who wins at everything finally
finds something he cane beat ?

I can name you 20-30 of the best in the business who got broke .

That includes Helmuth , Chan , baldwin , keller , Pearson ( not JC but
Puggy ) Bones Doman ,

Sextron sold his share of party Poker for 16 million and he is broke !! he
has been a sports sucker his whole life .

ESPN had him on E:60 last night. It was fun to watch. He goes to these
casinos where they treat him like a king.

Cheap shot nioted !

yes i have had several major ups and downs . I wasnt referring to myself .

gambling and poker has been littered with people who strive for
destruction .

Alan Elrod owned the rights to the original "Gone in 60 Seconds " movie
he came to the satrdust and began his "poker career" . His wife would
bring food for the dealers and he was the nicest guy in the world . 6
months later he was a major league sleezbag . He sought out destruction
and it ruined him .

Guacamole would win a tournament .. pay off what he owed , get 2 hookers
and a motel room and come out weeks later ..BROKE.

Johhny Chan was a bum for most of the years surrounding his WSOP win ,
both before and after . .. at one time he was a "host "' at the Stardust .
he didnt last 6 weeks , as he was such an asshole .

gambling and the psychology around it is littered with these kinds of
people .

And by the way .. what have you won ?

What do you play ?

how much do you win ?

how long have you been winning ?

it is much easier to take those kinds of cheap shots than it is to
actually be there and do it .

I know .. I have done both !!

"Broke" must be a relative thing. I saw Sexton, his wife, kids and extended

Shooting dice is, 'pleasure gambling.' You know the odds are slightly
against you, but like playing a slot machine, you do it just for the fun of
it.

It is theoretically possible to advantage play slots, but the details make
it such that to do it practically is extremely difficult and making a
living off of it is likely impossible.

I'm presuming you mean finding a loose machine. I remember in the old,
mechanical, days you'd find one that paid off well. But today's machines are
all wired to some central computer and I would think they could just dial in
a percentage payout.

Or are you referring to playing the random generator? Not interested in
playing an angle, just wondering what angle you mean.

Really? Remember that other Olympic swimmer that was gay? Is it the water?
Was it hanging around swimming pools where people dress skimpy? I hang
around the pool at the Red Rock while the wife's playing slot machines; but
I'm looking at the women.

Do gays swim faster?

Must be the water..

Thanks for the link, I missed this when it was on TV. I don't dispute
Ivy's poker skill but I have never considered him "the greatest poker
player on the planet". In addition, I think any one who gambles non-stop
for very high stakes, as Ivy does, runs the risk of eventually going
broke. The only thing that might change this is Ivy's deal with Full Tilt
poker. I am assuming he owns part of the company but I have no idea how
much he owns or what it's worth.

It's gotta be worth a whole shitload of money. Ivey is a bona fide
celebrity at this point and could quit playing poker altogether and still
make a lot of money. I think he just gets bored unless it's for very high
stakes that are meaningful to him.

Last time I was at The Bellagio the dealers told us that Ivey had so many
$25k chips he couldn't keep them all in his box.

He spent about a year in Biloxi during the few years before his death
getting absolutely BEAT UP in limits from 10-20 to 75-150 and had one game
for about a week at 200-400 until he quit the guy. The "Crack Whore" was
actually a pretty nice person, although she was definitely a crystal meth
addict. She would come tweaking around the Grand's poker room and find
Jack, grab $100 (most times) and go on her way. She did sweat him when he
was playing games above 30-60 because it was usually very short-handed and
only spread FOR Jack.

The way he and his wife split was horrible, but Jack was always the
"Gentleman" even when he was losing, hence the nickname "Gentleman Jack"
Keller. Ask the dealers in Tunica and Biloxi how he treated them. If
they answer that he treated them badly, they are lying.

Jack only "won" about $100k when he got the bracelet after backers, loans
and taxes were paid. The WSOP wasn't the monstrosity it is today.
