If you always wanted real casino chips for your home game, you have to check
this out. Crystal Park Casino in Los Angeles was open for a few months and
was shut down by the state. Some of you might know the background to the
closing of this casino. Well their entire supply of chips are being sold
through One Eyed Jacks Gaming in Kalamazoo, MI. provided that there is
enough demand.

I also bought a folding hold'em table from this company that kicks ass, you
can check out their site for tables.

Anyway I spoke to the owner and he told me he put these chips on his site to
test for demand. If he decides to go ahead, he will be taking posession of
several hundred thousand chips at a very large expense ($60,000+) both in
acquisition and in shipping (those babies are heavy).

Most of the chips are uncirculated or slightly used.

My motivation in posting this is that I want to buy a thousand or so of
these chips. So I'm trying to generate a little interest/demand so that One
Eyed Jacks will go ahead and make this purchase and sell these chips.

There is a picture of the chips at
http://www.oneeyedjacksgaming.com/chips3.htm

I think they look great and they'll be selling them for around $.50 to $.60
a chip, which is an excellent price for Top Hat & Cane 10gram clay chips.

The other thing is that there are several denominations that are very hard
to find, like $3 for 3/6 hold'em.

Anyway check this out, it seems like a nice opportunity.

.50 - .60 for those chips is what they cost brand new.

Are these the same speed chips that were so slippery you couldn't stack them?
Not that I ever had enough to stack, but I saw them falling down in everyone
elses stack!

That I don't know. What are "speed chips" Jan? I never heard that term
before. Is anyone else aware of the Crystal Park chips being inferior in
quality? If that's the case, I wouldn't want them either.

I believe most of them are uncirculated, so that would make them new.
Secondly, you can't buy real clay casino chips for less than .55 or so per
chip. Of course I'm not talking about the cheesy gold foil chips or
no-denomination blanks that are commonly available. I'd much rather have
actual production chips from a closed casino than the usual generic home
chips. If I can get these chips uncirculated for .55 a pop, I'll do it.

no.
crystal park didn't use speed chips.
they were "standard" clay composition chips.

You can get top hat chips for less than $.50 at quite a few places
on the net. EBay usually has quite a few. If you really must
have the "Crystal Park" logo, then I guess you are offering a deal,
but most people want the chip and not the logo.

I regularly scour Ebay and other auction sites, and the only top hat chips
that are ever sold are the kind I referred to earlier. They are either
no-denomination blanks offered in different colors, or those gold-foil hot
stamped thingies that don't look professional at all.

I like my game to have the look and feel of a casino game so I want chips
with professional artwork. The "Crystal Park" logo is unimportant, any
closed cardroom or casino will do. I'll commission my own one day, but the
cost is prohibitive right now for a twice-a-week home game. In this case,
the Crystal Park chips happen to be very attractive, so if this deal goes
through, I'll gobble up a thousand or so.

Do not do business with one eyed jack's!!! I ordered a set of chips and some
racks, and was very unhappy with the quality. They offered to replace the
racks, but the replacements were just as bad as the racks I originally
complained about. They never returned my call about the replacement racks, and
when I had told them I was very unhappy with my purchase, i was not allowed to
return it for a refund. Is that the kind of company you want to deal with?

Put it this way. I needed a hold'em table on extremely short notice. I had
10 people coming in 2 weeks and they wouldn't fit on my octagonal. I called
one eyed jacks, and spoke with the owner. For an extra $50 (I offered more),
he agreed to put a rush on building and shipping my table. I gave him the
date of the game and he told me I would have it no problem. At this time,
they were in the process of moving the business also. Bottom line: The table
arrived 3 days before the game. It was perfect. Everybody loved it. So yes,
based on my experience, this is exactly the kind of business I want to deal
with. Sorry if you had a bad experience. But mine was great.

I remember that the $5 chips were quite slippery when they were brand new. For
some reason the $10 chips were not as slippery, but the management was
reluctant to put them in the game, even at 20-40! They are very nice chips,
though. When i was on the road back then i used to keep a couple of chips from
every casino I played in. The Crystal Park ones are among the nicest looking in
my collection. Anyone remember that they incorporated a new town and called it
"Crystal City" so they wouldn't have to be associated with Compton? The chips
say "Crystal City, CA" on them. What do the new ones say? BTW, when they first
opened they comped me room and meals for the whole time I was there. Best food
of any card room I've ever been in. Meals from the kitchen of the 5 star
restaurant brought to you right at the table. Them Days!
