So what problems might I encounter in using a 8sp front derailleur (in this case a triple road der.) with all the rest being 10 or 11 speed equip. Looking for a large capacity in the front and was simply wondering of the pitfalls.

Difficult. Compatibility with your new LH shifter travel
will be the largest impediment.

Possibly the chain will stick between the chain rings during shifting instead of moving to the next chainring smootly and quickly.

I assumed he meant an Athena Eleven triple crank but that's
a good point.

Yep. I tried using an 8 speed derailer with a 10 speed. Because the chain was narrower it was difficult to set the thing up and it would either fail to shift or it would over-shift.
