With the exception of the braking there was no surprises. Kilograms
cost power to be hauled up hills and streamlining is probably the most
important factor in speed.

The discs really show up better in wet and loose surfaces while the
rim brakes were actually slightly better, in one test, then discs on
dry pavement.
I think that the poorer performance of the rim brakes in the posted
reference is probably due to them being single pivot calipers and, as
the narrator says, the pads seem very hard.
In short the better modulation of the disc brakes seems to be the main
difference between the two brake systems.
