Scott Pruitt Started on the pole and lead every lap. Kendall challenged early
but his car got loose and he fell back. Ron Fellows ran strong early and was
looking to pass Kendall for second but was hit by some debris left when Bill
Saunders bounced his Mustang into a tire wall. Fellows lost several laps in
the pits while the Tom Gloy crew replaced an oil cooler line broken by the
debris.

Dorsey Schroeder in the Raybestos Gloy Mustang got by Kendall and hounded
Pruitt through to the end. Pruitt and Schroeder pulled away from Kendall and
Baldwin, who was now pressuring for third. DS had no tires left to make any
kind of pass so he followed closely in second.

This race had an extremely high attrition rate as mechanical failures and
crashes took out several top ten finishers. Tommy Archer borke his suspention
missing one crashing car and his brother Bobby had his Mustang in the pits
twice in the early going to fix a distributor problem. Paul Gentalozzi lost
his power steering and struggled to a 13th place finish.

Ray Kong was having a great run and was pushing Brian Simo hard for what was
then 6th place. He spun once and later planted the car into the turn one tire
wall. He was racing to pass Jon Gooding at the time for 7th place. Gooding
was also involved in this crash on the 3rd to last lap.
