was young once).

so its pretty much the longest serving driver in F1 holds all the records,
nothing to get excited about IMO
MS has *not* the record of number of races (that belong to Riccardo
Patrese with 257) and only 14 more than Barrichello (239 to 225). So,
why aren't the records evenly distributed between the three?

If you listen to the pointy heads in this group (those with the tin-foil
hats), it is because he cheats. They refuse to admit that he is one of the
greatest F1 drivers in history.

Why do you think that is so?

somewhere in the top 10 with Jackie Stewart, Emerson Fittipaldi, far from
'THE' greatest, the help he has received to break his meaningless records is
unprecedented in F1.
I was a big fan of Bill Vukovich. But it's a bit of a stretch to include him
among F1 winners. When he won the Indy 500 (53 and 54), the 500 was
technically a part of the F1 circuit. But that was the only "F1" race
Vukovich and some other winners ran.

This hatrick crap is not a good indicator for that. If anything, it
indicates a damn good car, that was driven well enough. Remember, even
Rubens and Irv were a 'champion class driver' with the Ferraris.
7 WDCs is a valid indicator, hatricks are just a nice little stat..
What would be interesting is to see a number of passes list. Not sure
if glibs would have that data ? Geoff ?

Three Brits out of ten drivers equates to "a majority of Brits" does it?
Care to tell us where you learned your arithmetic (so that we can avoid

Um.. think pit stops. Anyone in the top 6 can lead a race for a bit,
as long as the others pit a lap or two earlier.

Oh, all right, three Brits plus one down under Brit clone = 4.
However, even at three, the Brits are the majority nationality.

I don't usually enjoy dabbling in pedantry, but just for shits and
giggles: there is a difference between a majority and a plurality.
Methinks you are thinking of the latter but referring to it as the former.

While correct, what you're dabbling in is boring. Are you British?
Please, do learn how to post.

You stay classy, San Diego.
I would surmise that the idea of any form of education has always bored

Though your presidential elections have confused many of you as to the
meaning of "majority" and "popular" there are still plenty among you
who have resisted being dumbed down as the easy option.
Hmm, I wonder if there is any correlation between being one of them
them and passport ownership.

This forum is populated by Brits. A majority? That in mind, the
obvious strategery is to dumb down.

In most countries, if not all, a passport is property of the
government and not the citizen.

If you want to throw words about, it is beneficial to yourself and
others to use such words correctly. It is much more dignified to speak
the language as opposed to chewing it up and spitting it out.

Geoff has my overtaking data which only goes back to 1997. We would like
to extend that back to 1950, but it's a fairly laborious process and
life is too short. :-)

Since F&T pit stops become the norm, the race winner rarely leads every lap,
he usually loses the lead two or three times when he pits.

Indeed, surely they'd need to ban pit stops for him to lead that. Which
makes me wonder how he managed to chalk up 5 on that list in the first
place.

So let's just say, i think you've missed to whom Ron replied to.

Well, no. It means that his car must have had such a huge margin that he
had a whole pitstop's worth of lead in his pocket before stopping, every
time.

A preposition is something you should never end a sentence with.
Especially when you've already put it in the middle.

Now that's interesting. I see Ronnie Peterson on the list with one.
If my memory serves me right, he could have featured more than once if he
hadn't been running "shotgun" to Andretti. Noooo that can't be right,
only mikey has monkey's!!!
Reutemanns 1 is probably dodgy too, probably belonged to Jones...
