If you could afford it, go for the VR6. This guy's car literally puts
those Hondas and Acuras in thier places! It is a mod that is just
amazing! You can have the weightlessness of an A2, with the power of
VR6: a good power-to-weight ratio!
Ever see a supercharged Fastback? Uhhhhhh.. can you say FAST!

VW made G60 Golfs in Europe, so if they fit the Golf, it should fit
your Jetta.

I agree with this one. Peter Haug was kind enough to let me drive his
88 GTI w/VR6 transplant. That car moves pretty darn good; when I got
back into my 91 GLI, it was so slow I though something was wrong with
it.
The G-60 is an easier transplant though. The block is pretty much the
same and will bolt up to the 020 tranny. I believe you have to change
to the Digifant fuel pump because that system runs on considerably less
fuel pressure. The only other thing is finding a place for the
intercooler and related piping.

020? The Corrado G60 uses the 02A tranny. The block appears to be the
same, but the following changed have been made:
-8.0:1 compression ratio
-cylinder head is heat treated to withstand the stress
-sodium cooled valves replace the the standard exhaust valves
-forged crank (though this left VW&Porsche mag confused, as every
watercooled VW since '78 has had a forged crank)
-pistons are cast, not forged, but are redesigned with thicker wrist pins
This was taken directly from an article about the G60 engine setup. See:
http://www.corrado-club.com/gallery/informational/index.html
If you're going to do a transplant, it's best if you have a whole doner G60 car.

Yes, but I was actually talking about conversions. The G60 motor is
able to bolt up to an 020 tranny, making a conversion much easier (is
what I should have said :-)
