One of those episodes written by the producer so there was nobody in line to
tell him it was putrid crap.
No, I have no idea why the title is plural, unless it refers to the
'surprise' ending.
In last week's exciting cliffhanger, Vance tells Gibbs to get to Mercy Point
hospital fast - it's Fornell!
I know Vance can be a rat bastard, but why did he lie to Gibbs? Turns out
that Fornell's daughter, who is a lot like her obnoxious dead mother, OD'd on
opiods at a party. Her idiot friends drove her to the hospital rather than
call for help. She's bluer than anybody has ever been blue before, and her
heart's not beating, but, you know, no permanent damage. She's in the same
hospital room set that Granger was in! She's allergic to the cure! That
allergy has caused all the symptoms ... that she had when they brought her in
before they gave her the cure. Idiots. Fornell wields his gun at the lazy ass
doctor (how did he get his gun into the hospital? Oh, look, the hospital
entrance has NO security of any kind, and has a wide open pharmacy storefront
handily right there). Fez has been lied to by all of Emily's friends but he's
too incompetent to catch it. At least he can't act. Obnoxious guy at the
pharmacy won't sell Fornell the flowers he wants. Way to paint a target on
his forehead.
At Gibbs house, Gibbs picks up some spare clothes for Fornell, because who
wouldn't need those after a couple hours (the party she was dosed at is still
going). Gibbs decides to bring alcoholic Fornell some booze to pass the time.
Fornell/Gibbs mutual ex-wife's ghost shows up to annoy Gibbs. There's a lot
of crap about how Gibbs needs to give up Rule 10, because the idiot who wrote
this didn't bother to watch last weeks ep where Gibbs tore up Rule 10.
Vance tells Gibbs it's not NCIS jurisdiction to catch the guy who dosed a
dozen people at the college last month. Ducky finds a loophole! The team is
galvanized into action! Gibbs gets a 911 call from Fornell! Fez is a moron!
At the hospital, Emily is completely fine. They let her walk around the
hospital barefoot. The lazy doctor says she goes home after one more
unspecified test, no matter what the outcome. Fornell wants the entire drug
supply chain busted!
Jack and Fez interview Emily's two best friends that brought her to the
hospital. Despite the incompetent and unable to act Fez claiming to have
interviewed everyone from the party the night before. Halfway through the
interview the kids think to ask if Emily's okay - yeah, she's already home.
The girl says Emily doesn't drink or smoke or do drugs, but there was some
creep with a nose ring hanging around her. Oh, yeah, the girl found this pill
by the bar and put it in an evidence bag for them. How exactly do you spike a
non alcoholic drink with a tab of percocet anyway?
The Abby replacement says the pill found by the girl matches the stuff in
Emily's blood, and is counterfeit! Abby's replacement's computer says Fez is
stupid. Abby's replacement says Fez has the hots for Bishop. Dear God I hate
that storyline.
At Gibb's house, Fornell has fixed dinner for Emily (I guess they both live
there). Fornell has to explain pepper spray to Gibbs. Fornell bought Emily a
blinding flashlight, 1000 lumens! Which isn't even high end, and doesn't seem
to bother Gibbs much when he gets the brunt of it. Diane's stupid ghost hangs
around and harangues Gibbs; Fornell catches on. Gibbs mispronounces Fornell's
name.
At some random street corner, a black guy has been found passed out with more
of those counterfeit opioids in his pocket. Somehow this got Bishop called
instantly to the scene despite local law not being interested in cooperating
with NCIS. He got his drugs from Professor Ralphie!
At Professor Ralphie's apartment, Gibbs knocks while Bishop fills him in on
Professor Ralphie. Where did she get this info? They don't even know the
guy's name! At least she could be reading it off her phone or something.
Diane's ghost goads Gibbs into kicking in the door. Nose ring is dead on the
couch with a syringe sticking out if his arm. High as a kite Emily is on the
computer in the bathtub! Professor Ralphie is her dealer! Somehow during the
commercial she completely sobered up, and they let her leave alone, 24 hours
after her first OD, having found her high as a kite 20 minutes ago at a
murder scene. Turns out Emily's best friend who brought her to the hospital
and lied to the idiot Fez in the interview is Ralphie's roommate.
In the NCIS elevator, Diane's ghost taunts Gibbs. McProbie reaches over and
pushes the button to let them out, because they were apparently just going to
stand there forever. Gibbs does one of his 'stopped elevator' talks with
Diane's ghost, who blames Gibbs for all Fornell's problems. The case has now
changed from 'catch who spiked Emily's drink' to 'catch who got Emily hooked
on drugs'
Abby's replacement has a annoying scene that has nothing to do with anything.
Fornell sees Ralphie's 'background check summary' (handy document) on the
NCIS view screen! And his credit card statement ...
The incompetent and incapable of acting Fez interviews Ralphie's roommate
again. They present a completely different version of events than we've heard
of before. Ralphie gets his drugs from a podiatrist Emily introduced him to!
Fornell beats them to the podiatrist. Apparently he saw the podiatrist's name
on Ralphie's credit card statement. The clearly guilty doctor breaks down
under Fornell's accusatory stares!
Back at NCIS, the worthless Fez fills in Gibbs. Gibbs joins the interrogation
of the podiatrist. He denies ever prescribing enough opioids for someone to
deal with, despite him winning a trip to Cancun for being the top opioid
prescriber in 12 systems.
Emily dropped out of college weeks ago! She spends all her time ... doing
what? Where is she getting money for the drugs? I think the answer they skip
over is that she's a whore. But who would want a ginger whore? Gibbs
manifests himself into Diane's ghost to talk to Fornell.
It turns out that on Ralphie's one and only visit to the podiatrist, he stole
a prescription pad and has been forging scripts. The doctor is innocent! The
scrips are being filled by a pharmacist who knows they're fake! It's the
flower Nazi!!!
In NCIS interrogation, Bishop tells the Flower Nazi he had to know that the
prescriptions Ralphie was bringing in were forged, because tens of thousands
of pills from the same doctor.
Yes, you read that right. TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PILLS. What, was Ralphie
carrying them out in wine barrels? Bishop can prove that the syringe used to
kill Ralphie came from his store! because each syringe has an individual
serial number micro engraved on it, just like every bolt sold in the
Arrowverse. Flower Nazi wiped his prints off the syringe! Wouldn't it be
easier to wear gloves in the first place? But he forgot to wipe clean the
needle itself! Because you touch the needle. Without gloves. When it's full
of heroin. Wait, where did he get the heroin?! Gibbs taps Bishop out and
demands the counterfeit pill supplier! EVIL PILLS FROM CANADIA!!! With empty
threats, Gibbs gets Flower Nazi to give up his supplier.
At Gibbs house, Emily yells at Fornell, who makes her better with a hug, as
she cries I NEED HELP DADDY! Somebody learned this in a 1975 after school
special. She still has a dorm, despite not having gone to class in months and
working at an imaginary job and living at Gibbs. She's been seeing Diane's
ghost too, who told her things about Gibbs' house she didn't know, even
though Emily *lives* there, and this was before the ghost appeared in Gibbs'
house.
At the boat in the basement, Gibbs tells Diane's ghost that he got the bad
guy, having completely forgotten about the evol Canadians that actually
*make* the stuff.
Diane's ghost blathers on about how this is all because The Gibbs finally let
out the secret of him killing Shannon and Kelly's murderer, even though lots
of people knew about that over the years.
Ziva enters! Quick, Gibbs, you're in danger! Is she or isn't she a ghost
too!??!?!
No part of this made sense.
Emily doesn't take drugs. She was dosed at the party. This leads them to find
out that somebody's been going around dosing girls at college parties for
months.
Except ... Emily *does* take drugs. She's an addict. So all the witnesses
lied and the case of dosing girls at college parties has nothing to do with
anything!
They trace the drugs to the evil podiatrist who had nothing to do with it
except by total coincidence he stole a scrip pad from there, and then used it
to buy TENS OF THOUSANDS of fake percocet from the Flower Nazi. The doctor
never noticed he was the top prescriber in the region even though he wasn't
writing the scrips. The pharmaceutical company was giving him trips to Cancun
for prescribing tens of thousands of percocet without noticing the pharmacist
wasn't actually *buying* tens of thousands of percocet? So why was the
pharmacist sending in the phony scrips at all? Why any of it? Why distribute
with a record via a pharmacy at all? Who has been dosing the people at
parties? Why? They forgot about that completely. Everybody just goes to
Ralphie's apartment to pick up their pills. Tens of thousands of them. No one
is suspicious. Gibbs catches everybody and they cut the head off the snake,
ending the drug problem forever. Except they forgot to raid Canadia, and
catch the guys that actually *make* the drugs.
Absolute garbage, start to finish.
