I watched:

PLANET OF THE APES:
"The Surgeon". Galen turns on the charm to persuade fellow ape Kira
(Jacqueline Scott), an expert surgeon, to use her talents to save
Virdon from a bullet wound.

PHANTASM: REMASTERED:
J.J. Abrams' restored version of the 1979 horror cult classic about
three youths investigating the goings-on at a funeral parlor run by a
ghoulish figure. Thankfully, he didn't fuck it up, as far as I can
tell, but I could have sworn there was a scene where the boy's house
exploded.

WESTWORLD:
"The Original". At a remote park, guests pay to share wild west
adventures with android hosts; a programmer warns the park founder
about the behavior of some recently re-coded hosts; in the Westworld
town of Sweetwater, a rancher's daughter encounters a gunslinger. Kinda
dull with lots of refridgerator moments. Why do the hosts do the same
thing every day but the techs said they set the bad guy's arrive in
town a week early to masscre the hosts they wanted to take out of
service? Why were hosts playing out their story unseen? Talk about
staying in character! Why do some hosts pose as guests? Since this is a
JJ Abrams production, I doubt we'll ever know so I refuse to think
about it.

THE LOVE BOAT:
• "And One to Grow On". Captain Stubing has a cow after Vicki drinks
too much champagne on her 18th birthday. Nice callback to him being an
alchie.
• "Seems Like Old Times". Joan Van Ark meets a college friend she's
been stalking.
• "I'll Never Forget What's Her Name". Richard Kline pretends to have
amnesia to win back his ex-fiancée.

THE LOVE BOAT:
• "Aerobic April". Charo returns to teach an aerobics class and forces
the crew work out with her.
• "The Wager". Two rich brothers bet whether one of the will fall in
love for romance or for money.
• "Story of the Century". A retired reporter stalks a passenger he
thinks is Amelia Earhart.

THE SIMPSONS:
"Trust but Clarify". Krusty's new candy, "Krustaceans," leaves a bad
taste in Lisa and Bart's mouths, so they launch an investigation; Homer
seeks a promotion at the nuclear plant and needs Marge's help to dress
the part; and news anchor Kent Brockman struggles to adapt to an
evolving mediascape. Zzzz...

SON OF ZORN:
"A Taste of Zephyria". Zorn tries to teach Alan about his culture after
seeing how the media portrays Zephyria. Elsewhere: a talking garden
gnome sparks conflict with Edie and her new neighbors. I half-watched
but this was better than the previous ones.

FAMILY GUY:
"Inside Family Guy". The episode offers viewers a behind-the-scenes
peek at a production week of the series to see what goes into the
making of the show. At one point, Peter is replaced and appears in the
office of TV execs to pitch his own new series. They did this on The
Cleveland Show already, but I liked it.

GRANITE FLATS: The last two episodes of season #2 and the first episode
of season #3. An interstate crime ring, international espionage, bank
robbery, assassination...time passage, a major character death, and
Parker Posey joins the cast. Through it all, this show still maintains
its 'safe for teens' religious drama trappings.

JACK REACHER NEVER GO BACK: The 2016 sequel to the first film. The
action is regular, the plot is entirely predictable, and there are a
number of odd coincidences to keep the plot moving. On the other hand,
the film is well acted and the action sequences at least play token
acknowledgement to the fact that people cannot get into fights without
suffering some amount of injury. As an action film, this was a decent
enough effort to make it worth watching.

WORLD SERIES OF POKER: The 2016 main event as they whittled the filed
down from about 20 to the final table of 10. The best moment of the
event came when a very obnoxious British guy was attempting to verbally
annoy a guy in a BlueJays hat. The guy had been annoying everyone at
the table throughout the game and had now zeroed in on badgering the
BlueJays guy in an attempt to get a reaction. Instead he got a stone
faced non-response for quite some time...right up until he declared that
he was going to fold. At that point, the BlueJays guy went off on the
British guy as being a horrible person and wound the British guy up into
going all in. A fine turn of events...and I like that they showed the
British guy leaving the casino complaining on deaf ears about how he had
been mistreated. Meanwhile, the show kept whittling down players until
#11 was sent packing with a mere $650,000. The top 1011 players turn a
profit on their $10,000 entry.

This is a multi-multi-day catchup here, so I'm just going to hit some
highlights of what I've watched over the past several days (luckily, my
brother was in town last week, so it wasn't a whole lot!...):

The Blacklist (recorded) - I think I liked this episode more than
Arthur did as I was able to follow it. Annoyingly, Liz now has a "DNA
test" showing that Kirk is her father - I really wish the show would
stop stringing this out, and just reveal that Red is really Liz's
father. Not doing so has not made this show any better!! >:\

Lab Rats: Elite Force - Apparently, the penultimate episode of this
series, *ever* (the stars seems to be convinced that it's not coming
back for a second season...). In this one Tasha gratituously
guest-stars, in an episode in which they accidentally age Bree's
"sister" from a baby to a teenager.
As this looks to be the end, it is super annoying that they never
got Adam and Leo to guest-star... :/

2 Broke Girls (recorded) - The 1-hour season premiere. I didn't 100%
follow what happened, but I think they hit a massive "reset" button,
and Han is now back in charge of the dinner. :/

CBS's Friday night lineup - I thought "MacGyver" was pretty decent
again, with the gang stuck on a train protecting a witness. I don't
even remember what happened on "Five-ZERO" outside of Kono's husband
getting out of jail. And the generally crappy episode of "Blue Bloods"
(but no Danny storyline, though!!) was covered elsewhere by Adam, and I
don't disgree with what he said there...).

The Big Bang Theory (recorded) - I don't even remember what happened,
which I think sums it up completely. :\

Scream (OnDemand) - The Halloween special. They pointlessly introduce a
"side-killer" on an "island getaway" for this 2-hour "special"... just
because, I guess? I guess it did further solid up Emma's credentials as
a "killer's killer", though.

Unwanted Guest (LMN) - I really didn't want to watch what Lifetime was
showing Saturday night, and I had already missed watching this Lifetime
flick with DOOL's Kate Mansi twice, so I figured this was my last
chance - so I watched this. This was actually a pretty entertaining
thriller, though I'm disappointed that at the end of this flick they
basically shrugged and punted rather than provide a motivation for
Mansi's character's killing spree... :|

Shadows of the Dead (Siffy) - This was about as expected. A "nobody"
cast of generally inadequate actors in a "horror" flick with a
sometimes adequate story. With higher production values and a better
cast, this might have almost been OK... :/

Beauty & the Beast (recorded) - Series finale. Pretty much as expected.
They totally copped out on explaining how Vincent and Cat avoided
getting blown up in the limousine. I did like them letting Tess and
J.T., rather than Cat and Vincent, take out Marc Singer once and for
all. The "ending ending" was par for the course.

Falling Water (recorded) - The pilot. I think I liked this more than
others did. I don't love the "conspiracy" angle. But I like this enough
that I think I'm going to track down episode #2 OnDemand...

10 Year Reunion (LMN) - I enjoyed this. Kacey Clarke (previously known
as Kacey Barnfield - e.g. from "Resident Evil: Afterlife") and Kayla
Ewell headline this flick in which four "friends" reassemble 10 years
after their final high school party left their fifth friend dead of
"alcohol poisoning". Clarke's character can't leave well enough alone,
and soon starts "investigating" the 10-year old death of their friend.
It's not long before someone starts "menacing" Clarke for looking into
it. Johnny Pacar played the love interest.

Recorded for later: Lab Rats: Elite force ([series?!] finale), Star
Wars Rebels, NCIS:LA, Secrets and Lies, and Poldark(!!).

Forgot one:

Van Helsing (OnDemand) - I am happy that they didn't drag out the
'Terry Chen' stroyline, but I'm not 100% thrilled with how they
resolved it (Chen, and *especially* Sarah Desjardins' character, should
have been executed on the spot...). But, at least that's over with.
Looks like the next episode the vamps try to assault their fortress...

THIS IS US. The two most recent episodes. I still think this is the
best show currently on television, and it's rapidly becoming clear that
it's the best show that's been on television for the past several
years. Also, there was a cute in-joke involving Aquaman for us of the
intelligentsia.

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Again, the two most recent episodes. I'm
enjoying this a lot more than I did last year.

THE GOOD PLACE. Two episodes, yadda yadda. Still funny. I understand
they're only doing ten of them (this was the seventh), and that's
probably a good thing.

LEGENDS OF TOMORROW. The Legends meet the JSA, to no real point. Dr.
Stein realizes it takes more than brains to lead the group. Also:
Nazis!

THE FLASH. Wells is back, along with his speedster daughter. Fun.

SIN CITY. Theatrical film. It's been sitting on my DVR for a couple
of years, waiting. I finally started watching it, figuring I'd get
bored and delete it within a few minutes. Nope. It's terrific. I
loved it. I've since brought in the sequel and will watch it later in
the week.

COMIC BOOK MEN. I didn't think they had another round left in them,
but this season's premiere featured a trip to the Geppi Entertainment
Museum in Baltimore so Walt could see (and even smell) a copy of Action
Comics #1. The museum was very impressive. There were *dozens* of
first issues. We also got to meet Steve Geppi, the owner of the
museum. He also owns Diamond, the last remaining comic-book
distributor in the United States. The series has been wearing thin on
me, but this outing showed signs of life.

Agreed.

I watched:

Westworld - "Dissonance Theory" - I'm not even going to try and recap
what happens in this series. But after reading a *very* interesting
theory about the show in another thread, I watched with a different
mindset and so far that theory is holding up. From this point on I will
accept that theory is fact.

The Walking Dead - "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be" - Season 7
kicks off with the aftermath of Negan killing one of the group. They
beat around the bush for a while before they finally reveal who is
killed. Intense episode.

Once Upon a Time - "Street Rats" - They completely retcon the Aladdin
and Jafar story for no good reason. :-/

Black Mirror (Netflix streaming) "Men Against Fire" - A new soldier
(Malachi Kirby) goes on his first mission to hunt "roaches" off world.
But has a change of heart when he starts to see things differently.
Another "Twilight Zone" style story. It was more or less OK although a
bit predictable at times.

"Hated in the Nation" - The feature length season finale revolves around
a police investigation into the murder of a woman who was hated on
social media. Her throat was slit but they can't find any evidence of
an intruder. After the death of a second person who was hated on social
media they realize the deaths are connected and just the beginning.
This was also more or less OK.

The Da Vinci Code (blu-ray) Tom Hanks stars as a, now that I think about
it, I don't know *what* he is supposed to be. Checking wiki...he's a
"symbologist." As I was saying, I don't know *what* he is supposed to
be. Anyway, he writes books and is knowledgeable about religion. After
a priest is murdered in what appears to be a ritual fashion he is
brought in for a consult but Hanks is warned by police cryptographer and
the victim's granddaughter that he's really the prime suspect. The two
go on the run to solve the mystery of why the priest was murdered and
what the Church has been covering up since the death of Christ. At
nearly 3 hours this flick dragged on but it was otherwise generally OK.
I think this falls into the category of movies I technically like but
have no real interest in ever watching more than once.

Max Steel (theatrical) - Movie based on an animated series (which I've
never seen before) about a young man who can bound with a wise cracking
alien robot called "Steel" to create a power suit. From the trailer I
was expecting him to fight alien invaders but this was mostly an origin
story and the fighting was kept to a minimum. I could also tell while
watching that the movie was heavily edited and not in a good way. I
knew this had bad reviews but I was hoping it would nevertheless be
watchable and maybe a rip off of "The Guyver." I guess in hindsight it
was sort of a rip off of "The Guyver" but it still wasn't all that good.
Not as horribly bad as the reviews make it out to be but nothing that
needs to be seen in the theater. It's worth a rental if you like these
sorts of movies.

With my DVR hitting 90% I made some tough choices and decided to delete
MadTV, The Strain and Empire. I was several episodes behind on these
series. Empire was a bit of a shock given how much I liked the first
season. But after giving it some thought I realized the second season
was a major step down and I just didn't care any more.

I accept "two time zones" as fact. I don't accept the identity of the

No, he meant "in the middle of the night as it was shown" as opposed to
"on DVR Sunday morning when I finally woke up"

No, I mean I was awake at 5am in the morning here so I watched it. I
didn't record it. It's a silly time to air the show, but maybe it works
out at a better time if you live in a later time zone.

Five AM is a horrible time. There have been times when I've stayed up
that late, but really it's just a bit too late. Looked at the other way, I
can't see any way to describe 5am as anything but "way too early".

Kevin calls his sister Kate from a cab and mentions something about
having been at Jason Momoa's house. Jason Momoa is playing Aquaman in
the forthcoming Justice League film. Justin Hartley, who plays Kevin,
played Aquaman in a failed pilot for that series ten years ago. (I
just now realized that Hartley spent most of that pilot with his shirt
off, just like in The Man-ny.)
