The studio ordered it cut down to a 2 hr running time... but when
Coppola showed it to the execs, Evans I think it was, that gave the
order, his comment was "Don't change a fucking word!"

Possibly the best movie ever made. I'm pretty sure that everything you
need to know, in life, can be found in the Godfather movies.

What if you need to know the terminal velocity of a falling object on
Neptune?

There's that scene in "You've Got Mail" where Tom Hanks tries to explain
how the Godfather can explain everything.

Maybe there's a scene where they are waiting in line, and the guy behind
them is spouting off about something, and reveals that information?

So nobody noticed until the age of DVD, when people at home could watch it
in good definition, and freeze frame it?

When they combined Pt One and Pt two they made a special with a lot
of the deleted scenes from Pt One. For instance, there was a scene
with the fat hitman orders his staff to do something, then keeps
them waiting while he goes out and has a big lunch. Another scene
shows Tom's family nervously awaiting word after his kidnapping.
Both scenes could be deleted without changing the story.

I believe many movies are made with more than is needed, and stuff
gets deleted to speed up time and pace. Casablanca had deleted
scenes, for instance. Some independent films don't do enough of
that, and have boring scenes of a car driving up a curving lane
to the house.

Yes.

Would that object be Alessandro Scarlatti or Domenico Scarlatti?

11. It was made in a decade where film-makers and even Shylock Hollywood producers cared about quality, instead of just churning out more and more superhero films and cartoon films for children and pervert left-wing adults.

Certainly... and there are many deleted scenes, like the one where Michael Corleone sends his regards to the murderer of his wife by blowing him to pieces.

What Coppola included in his final version *was* trimmed down... and I can’t think of much that I’d want to lose from that version.

Some pay cable networks are playing the entire thing in one package, and it runs almost 10 hours, with all the deleted bits intact.

I think another deleted scene was early in the movie when Vito Corleone
has all his sons go visit his dying counselor (who Tom replaced).

A great scene was at the meeting* of the Five Families and Vito warns
the others of the consequences if anything should happen to his son.
"I will blame some of the people in this room...and that I will not
forgive."

As an aside, Robert Duvall has had a long career. He often appeared
on Metv on Naked City and other old shows.

*filmed in the New York Central boardroom, thus the locomotive painting
on the wall.
