Great, in character, quote!!! I love it.
I watched my tape of "The Enemy" last night after seeing
"The Defector" this past weekend and I'm pretty sure that
the same actor with the same makeup and costume played both
Jarok and the injured Romulan that died in sickbay from lack
of the proper "ribosomes". You remember, the guy with the
"... I would rather die than polute my body with your Klingon
filth..." quote.
dan
I thought this name looked familiar. This actor played the same character
in "The Enemy". Apart from the obvious example of John DeLancie/Q, how
many times has a guest star played the same character more than once in
TNG? Obviously I'm excluding regulars and semi-regulars, even those
credited Special Guest Star and similarly. How about it, Vidiot?
I'll let you check your handy tome of TNG wisdom and tell me about the
others. Certainly this can't be the only other example (besides Q), can it?

The name is actually "Sloyan" and he's mostly a character actor whose voice
and/or face is more recognizable than his name. I think his most recent
"large" role was as Madeline Kahn's husband in the series "Oh, Madeline!".
Michael
I don't remember this character; where did he show up?
> Admiral Haden Stack Pierce
I don't recall seeing this name in the credits; but I did see a "John
Hancock" listed after Andreas Katsulas in the opening series of credits.
Now, I realise that "John Hancock" is a slang term for one's signature;
is this Pierce's stage name or something? Or is it a SAG tradition that
actors who don't want their name on the credits use "John Hancock?"
And my two cents' worth on the teaser: I don't believe that was Frakes. One
of my roommates insists that it was, but the acting was too good. :-) Also,
it didn't look like the guy was wearing makeup on his cheeks; usually you
can tell when such bulky latex appliances are being worn. And the other
character at the campfire didn't have a beard. (If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
But usually I can tell when someone's wearing a ton of latex.)

Yes, I must have been repressing the memory of Lwaxana Troi and Mr. Homm.
I didn't forget Admiral Quinn and Dexter Remmick, but I neglected to list
them. In article <9...@vidiot.UUCP>, the resourceful Mr. Brown lists two
actors (Michael Rider and Rhonda Aldrich) who also appeared more than once
in what may be considered repeated roles. This is the stuff of which
trivia questions are made! Unless someone comes up with another example,
I think that brings the count of repeated roles to eight.
Thank you all for your contributions.
Ah. I hadn't noticed that before. John Bates is one of the soldiers who
talks to the King in Henry V, iv, i, meaning that those of us who thought
that he was played by Jonathon Frakes were wrong.

I kept thinking he looked awfully familiar, too.
The only thing I could come up with is that he sounded like
George C. Scott, and looked like Christopher Lloyd.
Did anyone else think so?

John Hancock is a real actor. He played the black Starfleet official.
Michael
John Hancock has also appeared several time on LA Law as a judge, most
recently in the fur coat company case, and the woman who wanted to be
frozen.
Hmm, I detect a trend here. First Diane Mulduar (sp?), then John
Hancock, next Corbin Bernsen. LA Law, the Next Generation? Specialists
in Klingon planet rights, Betaziod divorce proceedings, Horta mining
contracts and the rights of all sentient beings (biological and robotic).
Coming this fall on Fox! (Whew, bad dream there, too many burritos)

I *thought* that was the same guy; but my roommate, a law school wannabe who
watches LA Law religiously, just as adamantly insisted that it wasn't.
Be that as it may, Vidiot's posting gave a different name for the actor playing
that character. What happened, did they have to replace the actor they had
originally cast? Or am I just going senile? :-)
