Woah, Amazon just recommended me a book that won't be available until
the middle of next year. Strange but true. No wonder I couldn't find
any reviews of it.

Does anyone here know anything beyond the obvious about TIME SPIKE?

I know nothing, but I wonder if Marilyn Kosmatka is related to Ted
Kosmatka, who has had a couple of stories in Asimov's, including a
very good one from 2007, "The Prophet of Flores".

The surname Kosmatka intrigues me. It seems to be quite a rare word,
and the only good reference to it I have found is the name Golyamata
Kosmatka, which is a burial mound of some kind in Bulgaria. I suppose
her ancestry could be Bulgarian, judging by her picture, but it would
be interesting to know for sure.

I think it's a novel about the "shard" in time that led to the 1632
transposition. If it is what I think it is, it is part of a large
number of works about the 1632 multiverse.

against the tyranny which now appears remote in America but which
historically has proven to be always possible.

From <http://www.ericflint.net/index.php/forthcoming/>

"May 2008 will see the publication of TIMESPIKE by Eric and Marilyn
Kosmatka, a different branch of the Assiti Shards universe."

ISTR that Flint had notions of another timeline split sending George
Washington and Frederick the Great (each with a small contingent of
troops) to Imperial Rome, and another story set roughly contemporary
about with the performance artists that created all these temporal
annoyances.

Of course, it's certtainly possible that this is a different story
yet...

Ted Kosmatka, by the way, is Marilyn Kosmatka's son.

And by an amusing coincidence, it is pre-offered on Amazon for $16.32

There are no coincidences. Only inadvertent revelations.
