Published in The Daily News, Longview, WA, on 11/20/2003.

I first met Randy when he came to California from Wisconsin to be program
director for VK. He went on to be involved in several corps after that,
including the Argonauts, Edmonton Strutters (as 1st Canadian Regiment),
NightHawks, and later the Northern Lights Youth Band and color guard programs.

Randy was well liked by members and parents alike. He had an engaging
personality. I last saw him at DATR in Denver in 1998. We shared occasional
e-mails after that. I had recently heard from people in the NW that he was
sick.

RIP, Randy. You were one of the good guys.

Randy was a nice guy. I don't remember him ever getting mad with VK's
always-rowdy hornline. He taught me a thing or two about soloing; he'd
played solos in the Scouts.

It's very sad to hear of him passing so young.

Randy was tour director/staff coordinator of the 1987 VK. He was great to work
with, and he'll be missed. AND SO DANG YOUNG! What's up with that?

Condolences to his family--and you're right Garry--he was DEFINITELY one of the
good guys.

I was on the Nighthawks staff with Randy. Always kept us awake with
his snoring. We put him in a hand ball court by himself and his snoring
echoed so much he scared himself awake.
Anyone know what became of his wife Linda?

I Was In the 1st Canadian Regiment in Edmonton, Alberta Canada, from 1977-1982. I have often thought of Linda and Randy and how much fun they were, But also the down to business kind. I loved being in Drum Corp and had some of the best times in my life. I loved Both of them and am deeply saddened to hear of both their passing. It makes you look back and cherish the fond memories we had. Rest IN Peace and keep that drum corp whisper from up above.
