It's just stupid if it's not Maria Hill.

If it's a lady S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, then it can't be anybody besides La
Contessa Valeria Allegra de Fontaine, generally seen as the sexiest
lady in the Marvel Universe.

Where's The Vision?
But Maria Hill and Nick weren't around at the same time were they?
She's his sidekick/assistant in the current animated series.
But Joe made a good call with La Contessa Valeria Allegra de Fontaine.

That may have been true back in the day but Contessa has barely even
appeared anywhere in years...most modern viewers would have no clue
who she was...never mind that the movies tend to lean more toward the
Ultimate side of things...and, if that's the case, Carol Danvers would
be the most obvious choice.

You really like the Vision, don't you? He's not one of the big icons
and hasn't even existed as we knew him in years so he is far from an
obvious choice for the movie...Scarlet Witch would be more
likely...and, once again, if they lean more towards the Ultimate,
Vision would be a chick anyway.
Personally, the most disappointing choice here for me is Jeremy Renner
for Hawkeye...Hawkeye is my fav Avenger and this is some pretty lame
casting.
Unlikely given how obscure the character has become and that she
doesn't even exist in the Ultimateverse this version of Fury is
modelled on.
They're giving due respect to the silver age canon.
If that were true, Sam Jackson wouldn't have been cast as Fury.
Sam Jackson SHOULDN'T have been cast as Fury.
My point exactly...they don't give a shit about respecting the silver
age canon.
They try to "walk a line" between satisfying new readers and
respecting the old ones.
What books are you reading? They don't give a shit about respecting
the old readers.
Well, what about the Spider-Man ... oh, Hell, I can't even finish the
sentence.

The Bond girl, made Marvel. (And almost literally, given that the
Lazenby Bond's girlfriend and later wife was also a contessa.) I'll
always remember Val from the old Nick Fury comics where Steranko drew
her in the backless spandex tights, and of course the sexy censored
scene where she and Nick have what-for in Nick's swanky bachelor pad,
just barely discreetly off-camera.
I was thinking I read that she betrayed Nick not long ago, or became
the head of Hydra, or something. According to Wiki, the former was a
Skrull but the latter was the real Contessa.
The series is a mix of different Avengers eras. They're attempting to
pick the best elements from each.
I haven't seen much of that at all.

Yeah, I think that happened in that lame Secret Warriors book...I love
LOVE to see a new Nick Fury series that was back to basics...but
that's not likely to happen any time soon.
All pale in comparison to Spider Pig.
grinningdemon would get it. The entire current Spider-Man comic line up
is designed specifically do disrespect old readers. And new readers.
And anyone that can read.
Sure they do.
What exactly makes you think so?
BTW, it's confirmed, the character is Maria Hill.
Ah, a Bendis character...yeah, they're REALLY respecting that silver
age canon.
I've lost hope in comic book movies, lately. Seems the only time
someone gets it right is when DC animation make their graphic novels
into animated movies.
Remember the last time they closely followed Bendis canon...we got MTV
Spider-man, and Fantastic Four with a story that was badly written,
badly directed, largely miscast and terribly acted in places (Chris
Evans and Jessica Alba, I'm looking at you). Strangely enough, the I
did find myself liking Ioan Gruffudd's Reed, but the problem was that
the relationship/ chemistry that was meant to exist between him and
Jessica Alba was entirely non-existent because she was utterly
terrible (honestly, has she got more than 2 facial expressions? I saw
her in the trailer for Machete, and she was as emotionless as a
mannequin. She was meant to be giving and angry, powerful speech, and
instead sounded like she was annoyed that Macy's were raising their
prices and getting rid of the employee discount).
That's 'Spider-Ham', AKA 'Peter Porkchop'.
Well, she does know how to do the shoulder to shoulder head tip, which
is meant to display anger or displeasure, or sometimes sarcasm, and
was considered hip amongst the Young & Dumb about ten years ago.
What they don't seem to remember is that that head tip is also Blond
Valley Girl for, "While I'm speaking, I don't have enough brain power
left over to hold my head upright."
The next Spidey movie will have mechanical web-shooters.
Like Ultimate Spiderman...that the movie is supposedly modeled
after...it's not a nod to the classics.
And the worst costume imaginable.
