Talked to Carl the other day. He was upset about how Tokuma stole
his film. However, I just talked to Tokuma. Not only are they using
the Streamline's Totoro dub, but they are also redoing the lyrics in
English and redoing the credits in English as well. There are also
plans to release the English Totoro CD.

Reality check: Macek did the Totoro dub as for-hire work.
It's not "his" film. Then again, I can understand how he feels if he
was expecting to get the distribution rights to it.

If you talk with them again, I would be curious to know how Tokuma plans to
reconcile the fact that Streamline's dub changes some of the character
names (like, "Satsuki" -> "Akimi", and their family name changed as well)
with the recently released English-language Totoro children's book which
uses the names from the original movie.
