There's been many threads about this already, and it goes to show that
the quality of Saturday morning entertainment has changed drastically. Part
of the endless Saturday line-up, there were a few shows I didn't see posted,
so I thought I'd see how many of you remembered these:

Kids game shows:

WONDERAMA- A game show that gave away piles of awesome toys. Can't even
guess how many Star Wars toys may have been there. (drool drool)

POW- Small format, had a geeky host. Kids would call in and yell *POW* over
the phone when a target on the tv screen was in sight. How many direct hits
determined the prize. It was more of an intermission type program.

Strange but addicting shows:

ZOOM- Bunch of kids singing, doing wild things. All wore these nightmare
stripped orange and black shirts.. I still have the soundtrack.(gulp) I
think this show was formated similar to "You Can't Do That on Television".

Land of the Lost ----> Dr. Shrinker -----> The Bugaloos - I didn't see
anything posted about the good ole bugaloos. The jammed! Especially the
theme song.. "The Bugaloos...The Bugaloos, the in the air and
everywhere...flying high, flying loose...." uh, I'm getting strange looks
from people as I sing this.

Ark II - This show was ahead of its time. In fact, that awesome rig they
drove around in....you know, the one with the three tire combination per
wheel?! Well, its still sitting in a storage lot in Los Angeles. They've
only used it for one other show. I believe it was a movie with Jean Claude
Van Dam and Dolf Lundgren. Anyway, it was cool seeing it on the big screen.
So, if ya want to see it, it should be off of Barham blvd. in LA. Its stored
with a bunch of other cool spacey-type ships (converted volkwagons
probably).

The last thing in my post is a question. Does anyone else out there remember
Saturday morning coming to an end. What I mean is that you kind of knew it
had reached the (cou de graut) when Via Legre popped its head around the
corner. After Sesame Steet, After Electric Company....ahh the end is upon
us...."Da Da Da DA da da da DA da da da DA da....VILLA LEGRE..." Did anyone
else feel this was the end of Saturday entertainment, and the beginning of
chores for the rest of the day? Maybe its just me, I hated chores! :(

Thanks for listening.

I remember Wonderrama with Sonny Fox as host. Anyone remember the host
of NY weekday afternoons with the Mighty Hercules, a fellow by the name
of Zacherly? He is still alive and well on radio in NYC.

Oh oh yeah!!! Bunch of scientist cruising around in their cool
vehicle doing good deeds. Kind of had a "Planet of the Apes" feel.
Actually, I think the vehicle got used in that Chis Elliot show "Get a
Life". They slapped some plates on it and called it the "Paperboy 2000".

An apparent addict of PBS children's programming. I think The
Electric Company, Zoom, and Villa Legre were all produced by the
Children's Telelvision Workshop. Never really liked them. Had about
as much appeal as the New Mickey Mouse club. :-P

I distinctly remember Wonderama. It used the theme from "The Unsinkable
Molly Brown" and all the kids in the audience would wave their arms above
their heads, crossing them. Remember the Snake Cans game. Bob McAllister
was the host.
ABC later adapted it into "Kids are People Too" (the Wonderama closing
theme song) It de-evolved right off the bat, becoming a juvienile talk
show of sorts. After the first season, ABC let Bob McAllister go in lieu
of the younger, hunkier Michael Young. Last time I saw McAllister in
anything it was some educational program PBS shows to grade schools during
the daytime hours. Does anybody know where Bob went?

Bob is now doing live performances and magic shows around the
country, but he seems to be based in the Pennsylvania-New Jersey
area these days. He performed live at the Toms River First Night
on New Years Eve.

sheesh - Now you really struck a memoratic nerve...I totally forgot about
the KaPT adaptation. It did kind of go downhill didn't it? I DO remember
the snake cans game....ooooohhhh yaaaa. Sitting on the edge of my seat
anticipating the snake to jump out at the twist of the can lid.
Twist...ahhhh (oh false alarm). There was also a mountain of presents you
could go through...another challenge perhpas...???

What really gets me is that no one has replied to the bugaloos yet. I
thought they were at least as familiar as HR Puff-n-Stuff and The New Zoo
Revue...maybe not. C'mon someone has to remember these stiped insects..:)

My memory's been sort of unreliable lately, but if I remember
correctly, "ARK II" was more or less similar to a cool-looking RV. The
"three-tire-combination" to which you refer was used on a similar vehicle
in the old Jan-Michael Vincent movie "Damnation Alley", also starring
George Peppard, I believe. The general shape of the vehicles is very
similar, but ARK II was white, and the "Damnation" version was OD Khaki
green.

Chance (I still don't get anything accomplished on Saturdays)

This Vehicle was NOT used in Universal Soldier. US had a whole Semi converted
to handle their special soldiers. The "three tires per wheel assembly" vehicle
is called THE LANDMASTER. It was constructed for the Damnation Alley film by
Mr. Barris who also made the 1960's BatMobile for th ABC Batman show. He has
made a lot of custom cars for TV & Movies. I saw him on a PBS HotRod show where
he showed off a few of his machines that are still sitting around his shop,
including the LandMaster. I would bet that he was responsible for ARK II as well,
but I have never seen his name associated with the show. oh & the original
Batmobile (one of 12 converted '59 Ford Futura's) and the Batcycle (Motorcycle
with a go-cart sidecar) were just recenty bought by the guy who owns
CYBERGENICS Labs, the people who make all the body builder suppliments you
find in the GNC stores.

Sorry, must've missed your post. Sure I remember "The Bugaloos"...names
like Joy, IQ, and Harmony...even have a few episodes on tape...

"The Bugaloos...the Bugaloos...we're in the air and everywhere..."

I seem to be the Krofft expert in this group as anyone will attest to.
If you have any questions, send 'em my way.

I thought it was Pix that they yelled, it was mostly bad Intellivision
games. One was a basketball game, a football game, and some space shoot
'em up.

Whoahhhhh, Now that also is from the past. WOW, totally forgot bout them.
Were they part of a troop or did they have their own show. Who starred as
Electra Woman or Dyna Girl? When did it air? What time? How can I see this
again? Jason of Star Command doesn't ring any bells, give some details bout
his character and show.

Thanks for the memories..

I used to be in love with the pink-girl Bugaloo (Jenny?) She was sooooo
British! Remeber the one where Benita Bizarre (Martha Raye) stole her
wings? I cried (I was only 10 or 11). Flying High! Flying Low!
I think she also played the tambourine, right?
I liked Dyna-Girl better than Electra-Woman. EW struck me as a sort of
feminist, career-minded type and DG was just out for fun.

Wasn't "Jason..." part of some other show? I don't think it was a full
1/2-hour but I could be confusing it with another show.

I think it took place on some kinda' asteroid and they were similar to a
Galactic Police Force. They had to keep fighting some space pirate.

Then again, this may have all just been a dream influenced by too many
candy bars...

_I_ remember Jason of Star Command. What was the name of the evil bad guy

right?
