FRIDAY, MAY 24

6 PM Cichlid Classic Registration Opens, Cichlid Showroom Opens

8 PM Digital Imaging for the Cichlid Hobbyist
Rick Borstein of Adobe will show you how to produce better pictures
of your fish for print or the web using Adobe Photoshop Elements.
Attendees will be able to purchase discounted copies of Adobe's
well-regarded products including Adobe Photoshop Elements for only
$69. Credit card orders only, please.

9 PM Fish Disease and Identification
Daryl Syska has degrees in physiology, microbiology and toxicology
and has been breeding discus for the last sixteen years. Want to
learn how to cure a sick fish? Don't miss this workshop on disease
identification and genetics, water chemistry and breeding. Daryl's
extensive experience includes co-ownership of a 5000+ gallon hatchery
breeding 100+ species of fish.

8 AM Cichlid Classic Registration Opens, Cichlid Showroom Opens

9 AM Fish Nutrition and Disease Prevention
Dr. Marty Greenwell, D.V.M. is Director of Veterinary Services for
Chicago's famous John G. Shedd Aquarium. He is a member of the
International Association for Aquatic Animal Medicine, the
Apistogramma Study Group and is currently Presiding Chairperson of
the International Anabantoid Association's Conservation Committee.

9 AM Silent Auction Bidding Begins. Last bid accepted at 3 PM.

10:30 AM Selecting and Conditioning Discus For Breeding and Competition
Julia Mann is an internationally recognized Discus judge, speaker,
and author. Prior to retiring from ACA Convention competition in
2001, Julia's discus placed first at five of the last six conventions
she attended.This program will cover selecting and conditioning
discus for show or breeding and a how-to section for those interested
in competition.

1 pm Tanganyikans: Julies, Lamprologus, Cyphotilapia- Tips and Theories
Pam Chin maintains over 200 aquariums filled with cichlids from Lake
Tanganyika, Lake Malawi and Central America. Besides serving on the
ACA Board, Pam is editor of the Pacific Coast Cichlid Association's
Cichlidae Communiqui. Her popular column, "Ask Pam" has been
reprinted by aquarium societies from Australia to Sweden.

2:30 PM Master Breeders- A Panel Discussion
Dan Cram- Grand Master Level IV for the Milwaukee Aquarium Society
Al Desautels- Fastest to Master level in Greater Chicago Cichlid
Association history
Milo Manden- Former President, Master level for the Greater Chicago
Cichlid Association
Rick Perez- Recognized to be one of the best Chicago-area breeders
Howard Schmidt- Master level for the Greater Chicago Cichlid Association
Tom Wojtech- Grand Master Level IV for the Milwaukee Aquarium Society


4 PM Breeding Apistogrammas
Mike Wise is primarily interested in the taxonomy, distribution, and
phylogeny of the genus Apistogramma and has been keeping and breeding
dwarf cichlids for over 25 years. Mike has served as Technical Editor
of the Apistogramma Study Group since 1985 and has had numerous
articles published in Buntbarsche Bulletin, The Apisto-gram, and
Cichlid News.
