Hi,
I've used a few PCB headers from the lab, but I couldn't find any female ones without wires attached.
I'd like to buy some, both for me, and to add to the supplies.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I ought to be buying?
I'm new to this stuff, and there seems to be way too many options!

Cheers,
Marcus

We usually get 40 pin and then cut to size.
100 pieces should cost around £7.5 from China.
If you buy, get 100 for space stock and we can reimburse.
I can bring in some Tuesday until delivery.

Thanks, I wasn't particularly worried about reimbursement, my troubles are a bit more basic :P
I had a poke around RS, but there's so many different options, and it looks like you can get separate housings and crimp bits of various kinds?
I literally have no idea what to pick!

Would getting them from China be amazon/ebay instead, or elsewhere?

Cheers,
Marcus

Search for Dupont or Molex KK 0.1". I think that's what most people use. I prefer the Molex style especially if it needs to be polarised.

Ah brilliant. Thanks, that's just the info I needed!
Looking at those, now I'm not so certain there weren't any around the lab...

I filled the drawer at RLab of .1 female fixed headers. Hope some of our heavy consumers have already ordered some more.
If you want wire connectors, I use Harwin  M20.  Shop around, RS, Farnell often have big price difference

Thanks Richard

I will return my loan DuPont crimp tool to rLab, just trying to figure out where I got my other one from and replace it.

We should have some crimp DuPont male and female cable crimps too – I have a few in stock, anyone object if I order some more on behalf of rLab?

It might seem like small beer but  I think we should either just stock these free to rLab members, or put an honesty box with (small) prices for the components, to help re-stock.  This stuff is very enabling and I’ve often seen people scraping around for it…

Cheers

Alex
