Improvised a sink for a family friend until their kitchen is fitted with proper stuff. Old kitchen already ripped out.

New kitchen will Probably be fitted n early March. So some time to go without sink!!

Thought some of you might like this or give you ideas.

Pretty simple. As you can see from the pictures, I used a plastic storage box as the sink bowl.

Used a 17mm outlet pipe connector as the 'drain'.  Drilled a hole in the box and secured and sealed the connector using hot glue. Used an ordinary waste hose from the box to go to the drain pipe in the kitchen wall.

Using speedfit connectors and a levered valve as an isolator to supply a garden tap supported on an off cut from a skirting board.

So far so good.  Serving the purpose.

You will notice some steel wool at the drain area.. this is to keep debris away from blocking the drain.

Hope you like it 😁

That's an interesting hack Ash, thank you for sharing. Maybe one to post on hackaday showing hacks are not just for geeks. I have found those translucent boxes are very brittle if hit or stressed, but maybe yours is a more pliable plastic.

Hello Mike

Thanks for liking and handy tip. :)

Well, yes you are right, it was touch and go and I drilled, but fortunately when I was drilling for the drain, it held pretty well.

It did crack a bit when I drilled a hole for the main water supply.. but that was a bit higher up from the base and the glue gun came in very handy.  I have got feedback from the users and they are still well happy with it :)
