I just published a new Getting Started Guide on
spring.io [1] that shows how to create an image thumnailing micro service using Reactor's TCP support with Netty HTTP thrown into the mix. It publishes thumbnail requests to a Reactor event-bus style and returns the result of the thumbnailing back to the request handler so it can send a response back to the client.
There's only two or three classes in the entire app since it's using Spring Boot and Reactor's Spring integration.
It is also the first in a series of tutorials and documentation on using Java 8 with Reactor. This GSG uses lambdas throughout and shows just how awesome they are at cleaning up your code! :)
