My wife wants to sell her 56cm Glorious mixte.  It is in excellent condition and has been ridden very little.  Actually it has been stored in our house and not ridden at all for the last 5 or so years.  This was the first mixte frame that Rivendell offered and has very fancy head tube lugs.  It is my understanding that it was partly the time and cost involved in painting these frames due to the intricate lugs that caused Rivendell to discontinue the Glorius.  This Glorius has a selection of higher end components:

Nitto Technomic stem
Nitto Albatross handlebar
Shimano Ultegra headset
Shimano Dura Ace 9 speed bar end shifters
Shimano 105 front derailleur
Shimano XT rear derailleur
Sugino XD-2 170cm triple crank
Paul centerpull brakes
Panaracer Col de la Vie 650B tires
MKS Grip King pedals
Brooks B-67 saddle
SKS fenders
Gilles Berthoud saddle bag, panniers, racktop bag

Asking $1,800 OBO

Agreed. I wish there was someone in my life for whom this would fit. Gorgeous bike and build and stellar price.

Just showed this to my wife, asked her if she wanted it, but she says the Caseroll I bought her has too mush sentimental value. Also she doesn't like red!? Otherwise this would be payed for already.

Not that I need one, but...darn. These are such beautiful bikes. Well worth it!

We bought this bike. My wife had her first rides on it this weekend, and it was love at first sight and ride.

This is the most beautiful Riv ever, I think. I have owned a blue Ram for 10 years, and I have often praised its beautiful lugs to my wife, with caveat that the Glorius has it beat, hands down. Finally, she said, OK, if a Glorius ever comes up for sale, let's get it. So we did.

A few words about my wife's biking background: Although she and I rode together some when we were first married (ahem, 31 years ago), she mostly has not been a bike rider, preferring walking for her daily exercise. But plantar fasciitis made walking painful, and the opening of the beautiful, mostly paved, Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail in northwest Michigan made biking a joy, so she switched to biking 18 miles a day. In each of the last three summers, she has ridden 1000+ miles on an old Trek mountain bike with 2" slicks, which she always found comfortable and adequate.

But she was amazed at the smooth, responsive ride of the Glorius. She even found the B67 saddle comfortable (after 3000 miles of riding heavily cushioned saddles). And the lugs! Dreamy.

We'll be quite the Riv pair on the trail next summer.

Congrats! That's a great buy. The only mixte that may beat the Cheviot (which I owned until a few weeks ago).
